Answer:	Hold on to the gold part of the product and press up on the black button at the bottom.....it will click, do this several times-it brings the product up into the applicator. The first time you have to do it a few times to prime it until you get the gloss up. Hope this helps! It's actually a really great product! Just not enough of it for the $$$
