How to Curl Hair

1. Plug in your iron and rotate the switch to the right temperature. The thicker your hair, the higher the numbered setting should be.

2. Split your hair into sections. Even if you have thin hair, you'll get better results if you work with small sections of hair.

3. Start curling. Grab the piece of hair you wish to curl and give it a quick brush through to remove any remaining tangles. Take small sections of hair between the heating plates. Rotate the upper body of the iron clockwise down (for your right side), OR rotate the upper body of the iron counterclockwise down (for your left side). Hold the flat iron in this position as you move it down the hair shaft, right to the ends.

I find if I apply heat protection spray and let it fully dry it does not come off on the comb. I think it is not necessary on the lower heat settings, 1 and 2, but hot does damage hair so you will have to weigh the value and decide if you want to take a chance on coating the heat element.
