Answer:	No you cannot!!! Despite being clearly labelled as working OK with "120-250V" outlets, this is not the case. While on vacation in Europe my wife plugged it in to an outlet and it began sparking and almost caught on fire. This is a clear fire and safety hazard and this product should be pulled from the shelves.

Most regular sized irons are 11 to 12 inches. This is called a mini iron. This is from the drop down menu below the regular iron. It is important to read all the descriptions to know what you are getting.
Question:	Does it work well on African American or mixed curly hair
Answer:	I've had this flat iron for 5 or 6 years, I've used it for maybe about 3 of those years where my hair was a mix of natural and permed, and YES it works very well on African American hair. There is a heat controlled setting on this flat iron. So, to the person that states it's too hot and breaks an AA's hair off, first of all, not all AA's hair is the same. My hair requires a greater amount of heat to straighten. Second, I don't think they are using the setting correctly because the heat setting can be controlled. It will fry anyone's hair (fabrics, clothing, etc.) on the highest setting, which I believe is 450 deg. I keep it right around 410 deg. I use this to achieve very straight styles (or right after a shampoo and blow dry) and my mini for daily use. I also use this with a thermal protector like Mizani thermal protector. I also use to use this with the Mizani's Gloss Veil when until they stopped making it. Make a long story short, it can get very hot, but don't use it on it's highest setting.
Question:	what is the difference between the 3rd generation and regular iron
Answer:	I believe the only difference is that the 3rd generation has slightly longer plates than the regular iron. Neither of these flat irons are of the current generation, which is why they're being sold so cheaply. I think they must be a few years old, because if you look at the current 1-inch flat iron on HSI's website, it's slightly different and costs quite a bit more. That said, I bought the regular iron here and I could not be happier with it. It's everything I wanted. I can curl or straighten my hair, it doesn't burn, the temperature can be adjusted so easily. My only warning is that it doesn't have an automatic turn-off, so you need to be someone who can always remember to turn it off or unplug it.

Also, make sure your hair is completely dry before using. if you use when your hair is wet, your hair will frizz. you may also want to add a product which will help the iron straighten your hair...or a shampoo and conditioner to reduce frizz. the matrix has a good "sleek" shampoo that smells wonderful. This is one of the best flat irons ive used...especially with the comb and I have very curly, dyed, dry, frizzy hair.

Answer:	Yes, it works better and doesn’t take as long. My hair is thin and already very flat. I chose this one because it’s titanium, which is healthier for your hair. It only takes 1 stroke to flatten it instead of 2 or 3 times to get it smooth. My hair also is hard to get to hold a curl. I curl it half way and it just stays. I wish for purchasers to understand the properties of the BDYT. Here is what she wrote: "I liked that there were various colors. However, they only went up in size by length. They will not accommodate a bulky skein." Here is my response sent her: “Please know that there are always limits. Listing photos & the lengthy descriptions show & talk about “ganging” 2 tenders for larger skeins."Ganging” is also used for 16oz skeins. Did you try that? I am simply baffled and truly hoped, like other customers have done, that you would have inquired with me before continuing to consider purchasing the BDYTs without fully understood knowledge beforehand. I quite often receive general questions both before and after purchase; and as a published and nationally awarded designer in both knitting and crochet, I most always (along with the buyer) enjoy the great conversations that evolve about these fine arts. I think ganging would work with your bulkies, keeping in mind that one must assume there eventually there are limits. By giving me a two star, it has dropped my five-star average (up until today) to a four and one-half, which was devastating to me when I saw it. The product encl notes what a low rating (especially when the buyer was not contacted for clarification of use instructions before posting negative comments) like this does to a small seller and that I would wish to make right any issues that could easily be resolved before posting negativity and its ramifications.
