Answer:	The bristles are fairly rigid. As a rule, if you're worried about breakage and split ends, I would not brush your hair when it's wet. Instead, brush it just before you go to wash it. I've had 2 of these brushes over 7+ years and they're the only brush I use. Very nice quality, never had a problem that patience and these couldn't fix.

All brushes should come sealed in a stay fresh container. If your brush was not in a stay fresh container then it's not recommended that you consume it.

Answer:	Yes, it is, at least, the flat oval one is. I don't know about the round bristles on all sides one but I would assume it is. I like the original flat one I got 5 years ago so well I bought a 2nd one last year. They hold up very well. I have very long (butt level) very fine hair so only use boar bristles, no synthetics, unless I want fly-away static hair. Excellent product.
