How to Use

• Place the Barriers in the path of oncoming flood water.
• As they come in contact with water, it will absorb through material & start to swell.
• Barriers reach their full height of 3.5in in 10 mins if enough water is present.
• If a rush of water is expected or you need to stack them, pre-soaking them is recommended.
• Not for use with Salt water.
  
  

* Place wider section of Barrier towards water, as the smaller section (wedge) prevents it from rolling. **DO NOT want water moving in this direction causing seepage in between the Barriers.

Tips & Tricks

• During first activation, we recommend checking on them to make sure they are directing water as desired. Adjustments may be necessary as landscaping can alter water flow.
• Barriers should be stacked higher than water level for stability and to prevent them from floating away.
• Barriers are flexible and can be curved or wrapped.
• Barriers have a dual chamber, place wider edge towards water & smaller wedge away from water to prevent rolling out of position.
• Pre-Soaking is recommended prior to stacking or if heavy rain or water flow is expected.
• Staining may occur in instances where the surface is porous or unfinished cement is present. Remove from area when no longer needed.
• Porous surfaces like unfinished cement cause excessive seepage, since they are both trying to absorb water. Plastic barrier film in between, may help.
• For use in the winter/snow months, make sure they are fully activated before freezing temperatures occur to assure maximum protection when the snow is melting. We do not recommend moving them while frozen to prevent any tearing of the outer material. Also, salt on the roads should not come in contact with Quick Dams. To help, pre-activate Quick Dams with water & then wrap plastic under & over the top to prevent the salt from making contact.
• Do NOT use around salt water, lime or calcium. These will cause the inner absorbent to release the water & deflate the product making it useless.
• Flood Barriers will not fully activate unless enough water is present.
• Once activated by water they can be used as a barrier against other oils & chemicals.
• Leave in place for 3-6 months of ongoing protection. Shrinking will occur as they dry out, but they will swell again once re-exposed to water.
• Length of time to dry out varies on climate. Average is about 3 months as higher humidity levels tend to take longer.
• Once completely dry, they will feel crunchy and ready for reactivation. Smooth the contents to evenly distribute the super absorbent polymers.
• Direct sunlight causes the product to degrade at a rapid pace, which will result in the product feeling slimy.
• Do NOT cut. The inner contents will be exposed and will make the product unusable.

Storage & Shelf Life

• Barriers unused, have a 5+ year shelf life.
• Store in sealed bag for maximum term.
• Keep on hand for immediate deployment.

Question:	Would this work with brackish water or would they salt content be too high
Answer:	Just guessing - but believe these would work. They soak up anything liquid.
Question:	what is the smallest size of the bags
Answer:	Thank you for your interest in Quick Dam. The smallest length of this barrier is the 5 footer. We do however carry bags that work the same way in a 12" x 24" size if this will suit your needs better. You can search this product by using the mfg item # QD1224-6.
Question:	What is a super absorbent material to place on window sills till windows are repaired
Answer:	Our product absorbs water & swells to divert flood water so should work.
Question:	Can I drive car over this dam
Answer:	When it's dry and flat, maybe; but not a good idea when it has swelled with water....it would burst and release the gel.

Answer:	I use this on my mixed daughters hair, it works really well to define curls and eliminate frizz I've tried several products and this one by far leaves the hair the softest and didn't make it seem like there is any product in there.
Question:	Is it vegan
Answer:	Yes, I have medium length naturally curly/wavy hair and I use this product for scrunch and go. It can leave your hair feeling a bit "crunchy" if you use too much, so I use the matching curl cream first and it works really well to keep my hair soft (cream) and curls defined (this product). Question:	Would this fit for my 5 month old 12 pound chiwinnie
Answer:	No. I got it to transport a 12 lb dog, he could only sit straight up, after hanging bottom and top straps around headrest.The bottom strap slid down, and dog was caught between seat and car seat. It is good quality material and well made, but I’m going to get the next size up.
Question:	Can you use a seat belt with this
Answer:	You don't need a seat belt from your car with this seat. It attaches not only to the head rest of your car seat, but also has its own seat belt that goes around the entire seat inside your car. It also has a hook to attach to your dogs harness that they wear. You would not want to hook it to a collar and choke them. My Sophie, maltese, loves it. You can raise it to different heights for them to see out of the car or not. I love it. Great purchase.
Question:	is this sturdy enough for my 15 lb dog to step on side and put head out window? is the strap long enough
Answer:	My baby (dog) is a 18 month old, 21# Welsh Terrier. She and I really like her booster seat as she likes looking out the front windshield. She doesn't get close to the side window, but if she did I think the side wire would hold her. Although, this booster seat has two straps at the inside bottom which attaches to her collar in two places. This holds her in place so she can't get over in my lap as I drive. I don't think these two straps would be long enough to allow your dog to put it's head out the window. On our trips she sits upright so she can see out and also enjoy the air conditioner blowing on her face. When she is ready to take a nap she lays down and places her head on the edge so she can look at me and I can rub her head as we are driving. I really like this seat as it enables her to be up front with me so we can enjoy each others company in a safe way. I highly recommend it.
Question:	is there a clasp to attach to a leash so dog doesn't jump out
Answer:	Yes, there is a clasp. Do not attach it to a leash or collar. The dog seat is elevated and if the dog jumps out it could possible strangle or be injured. Put a harness on the dog and attach the clasp to the harness.

Question:	I'm about to move my refirgerator out of my home and down about 7 stairs. Would this work better than an appliance dolly? Two men in decent shape
Answer:	When you say 7 stairs, do you mean 7 steps? I have found that it does not work well when navigating stairwells. I would think an appliance dolly woudl work better in this case.
Question:	I work for a delivery company that does a lot of flat screen TVs, usually up stairs. How well does this work on moving narrow items
Answer:	Not so hot, unless you have very wide stairs and move them up sideways. Basically its a roughly 3-inch wide strap that attaches to a shoulder harness, so you carry the weight down through your torso and legs (big muscles) rather than just your arms, which are used to help guide the object. Problem with narrow objects like flat screen TVs (even in their original boxes) is that the strap can slip sideways a couple inches as you're negotiating stairs or turns. Not a big deal when the object is 2 feet wide, like a washing machine, but could be a real problem with long narrow boxes.

Answer:	We have golden retriever, works really good, cleans undercoat, thins & trims long hairs Start with 9 sided comb then other side, enjoy
Question:	Do you use this for daily combing or only when there's matting
Answer:	I prefer to use a comb with tines much closer together for the daily grooming of my cats and use this tool when mats are present.
Question:	Is the groomer specific for long furry animals? Is it as efficient on animals with a short fur length
Answer:	I have three cats. One is long haired, one is short haired, and one is VERY short haired. For the long-haired cat, this works well. My short-haired cats, it works less well, but did do a decent job at getting some mats out of the standard short haired cat. The very short haired cat, this doesn't do much for, it's more productive just to brush her.
Question:	How does this compare to a furminator
Answer:	The furminator has tines that are really close together. My dogs did not like it because it pulls their thick hair. This product has one side where the teeth are pretty far apart. Use this side first until you get a lot of the loose hair off or until your dog gets used to it. Then turn it over and use the side with the teeth closer together to finish removing the loose hair. My dogs enjoy this product, they would not tolerate the furminator.
