Your hair needs to be entirely virgin to get a perm and that doesn't take a year if your hair is more than 12 inches and you're in your early 20s you probably shouldn't try to perm your hair til your 30s because your hair can't have any color chemicals in it. Hair color doesn't wash out over time like it appears too it's there forever until you cut your hair or it grows out.
