Question:	Are the tarsals wired together or is there elastic flexibility mid foot
Answer:	It does, but you may be required to drill holes in the roof (water-proofing gaskets included with the rack). We put it on a 2007 Chrysler Town & Country that already had a cargo carrier on it. We were able to integrate the old cargo carrier with the new ladder-rack in a way that didn't require the drilling of any holes.

Answer:	Yes, they are removable and can be adjusted to fit ladders, cargo...I take the ladder stoppers and remount them upside down on the bottom slide groove on the space outside of the mounting brackets facing the roof and tighten them down and put on the end caps and if I need them I just pop off the cap and remount them facing back up. I can post a pic if needed
