Question:	Could this gate be used for outdoors
Answer:	To answer Anonymous re outdoor use: I bought this gate (and also a slightly different North States gate as well, in a brown metal finish) to use in place of a screen door in my rental in order to let my cat see outside and get some fresh air. I have them both installed in the same door space (one lower, one upper) . The white one has been up about 2 months and the brown one about 9 months---and after a few months, both started to get slight rust stains at the bottom ledge where the slats are welded in. However, I haven't seen the older brown gate's rust get that much worse from month 3 to now (month 9), so I'm hoping that it won't turn into structural damage.The space they're in is slightly protected but does get afternoon sun, damp winds, and rain (though not much rain in this drought year)---I live in the SF Bay Area, in the cooler coastal part of the bay so there's a fair amount of humidity but no snow, sleet, etc. If I could go back in time I'd probably spray them with some kind of sealer before putting them up, but as it is I'll probably leave them up until I move again, and then perhaps recoat with a weather-resistant spray paint when I take them down (not that they're that hard to take down, but...I'm not that motivated to do it now!).If you're considering them for outdoor use, I'd give it a try but be aware that they aren't made for it, and will probably have issues (mine are still cosmetic at this point) sooner or later, depending on your climate.
Question:	Is the latch complicated enough that my toddler won't figure it out
Answer:	The latch for North States super gate is absolutely complicated enough so your toddler won't figure it out! You have to pull down the latch lock/catch while lifting the gate up at the same time to swing it open. A toddler will not be able to do this, which after using the gate for a week, I trust the safety and easy use of the gate!
Question:	Can a cat squeeze through the spacing of the bars, or could this work as a cat barrier
Answer:	No this does not work as a cat barrier. I have a very similar gate that works fine for the cat I'm trying to contain. But I have to go much higher as she can easily jump standard height. Even after I put anti-cat sticky tape on top rung she would climb it as evidenced by bits of fur on the tape. But that one worked. As I was installing this one with Mrs Sapphire inspecting, she waited till I was working on the second level and then just stepped through. After I sighed and stopped Mrs Sapphire from chasing Mrs April I got back measured. The bars on this gate are on 3 inch centers, the bars on the prior gate were 2.75 inch centers. The 2.75inch centers seem sufficient to deter 1year old energetic Mrs Sapphire, The 3 inch centers don't even slow her down.
Question:	Is the metal in the gate magnetic? I want to put a magnet on the wall to keep it open when needed
Answer:	Top and bottom rail are magnetic. My gate does not stay perfectly flush against the wall. It will stay open however, in either direction.

Answer:	Dear Jen, while I purchased these gates for a dog they do seem like they would be toddler proof up to probably 3yrs of age. You have to push a button in the handle while lifting it. These gates are very good quality and should last well past the terable 2's. Hopefully this helps you.

Answer:	Gate Height is 28.75in tall
Question:	The gate is advertised as 36" tall, but at what height are the upper mounting points? My banister where it needs to connect is 36" tall
Answer:	The gate does not swing. So when you open it, the entire gate comes out of the wall attachments on both sides, it is spring loaded. The wall attachments are very narrow so I think it would work.

Answer:	yes - I needed 61" also and thought I'd have to add a small 1 x 2 piece of wood. But it extended just fine. Although with the tension screws extended to their limit, the gate was not quite as firm as I wanted it to be. But it worked just fine and kept the puppy where we wanted her to stay.

Question:	We received this gate with the top having about a 4 inch gap where it should clasp on top. Is there something we are not doing to get this to close
Answer:	It is normal. Just tighten the wall screws and that will push the gate inwards from both sides making the gap close. But you need to do some real tightening for that.

Answer:	Yes, this gate has great features. It has both stay open and auto close features. It is engineered to stay open when opened, but with a small push will completely shut and lock.
Question:	How wide is the actual part you walk through? I have some large family members
Answer:	At the top, with the gate open, the measurement from the hinge to the latch is exactly 17" (on mine). But that will depend on how much tension you have dialed in with the top two tension knobs. Could be a little less or more. The opening below the latch and hinge is 18.5" to 19", again, depending on how the upper tension knobs are set.

Question:	how long does this expand to from end to end in inches? could this be used across a whole room? and is it sturdy enough for a toddler to pull on
Answer:	Each section is 2 feet long. Depends on the size of your room. You can buy additional units-they come in two 2 foot sections, I think. It you anchored the ends and locked the joints, I believe a toddler might be able to pull on the bars-they are sturdy, but I would not like to say the unit couldn't be pulled over or moved , especially if it is very long. I would not leave a child (or dog) unsupervised in this enclosure.
Question:	Is it difficult to take off the wall quickly if you want to put it away during people visiting the home
Answer:	4 brackets will remain and stick out about 3-4inches. Take down and fold away will take about 3-5 min depending on how tight of a area it is to work with. You just need to turn the 2 end poles until they are loose then remove, fold and put away.
Question:	What do they mean it adjusts over crown molding? Did you have to mount it into the molding? Would it work in spaces that
Answer:	You do not need to screw attachment into molding/trim. The piece that you screw into the wall can slide up and down along the pole to clear trim/molding so you don't damage it. For example, I have trim that extends about 3 inches from the floor so the lower attachment piece was slid up a little to clear the trim so the gate would mount flat without damage to any trim boards.
Question:	Can the door opening be placed at any point of the gate? Can it be at the beginning of the gate or does it have to be in the middle
Answer:	It does not need to be in the middle. When I (actually my handy husband) installed it at the base of my stairs it worked best as the first piece. You can put it in any section along the gate that works for you.

Answer:	Thank you for your question. The paint on this metal (steel) yard is powder coated, which is similar to home appliance coatings. It has been tested for toxins and lead content, and has passed rigorous testing and government standards for lead, VOCs, PVCs and other heavy metals content.
Question:	If this is used as one long gate, how many inches is it once assembled
Answer:	Thank you for your question. When used as a gated barrier, the Superyard is 144 inches wide.
Question:	Can you remove one panel and just use five panels? Can the gate be the last panel on the end or does it have to be the 2nd or 3rd panel
Answer:	We removed a panel to fit more closely to our fireplace. We also moved the "gate" panel to the end! It's easy!
Question:	What is the width of one panel
Answer:	Individually, each panel from connector to connector, is 25 3/4". But when you connect panels, the connector pieces of 1 panel overlap the connector pieces of the connecting panel and you lose width, so 2 connected panels is 50", 3 connected panels measure 74.5".

Question:	Can I mount this gate in one doorway and still use it as a pressure gate in other doorways
Answer:	Looks like this issue has been addressed in the new design. We bought the gates this week and were able to mount it as is without extensive "handyman" skills. The bottom mount is adjustable in the new design and allows for mounting the gate flush to the wall without the baseboard causing it to cantilever. No cutting notches in the molding or need to place shims at the top
Question:	can it be used outdoors
Answer:	No, there are 4 brackets (top left, bottom left, top right, bottom right) which get mounted first. The brackets have vertical posts which, once installed, the gate slides onto. The top brackets have a latching mechanism that lock the gate into place. To release, simply press down the buttons on the top brackets and slide the gate up and off. The brackets remain screwed into the walls.
Question:	Can you stack two gates on top of each other in a doorway
Answer:	Contrary to what most believe, there is an extension option. Since I found out the 72" was not quite enough to go around my back door that swings outward, instead of returning the Supergate that I bought at a discounted open box item, I did some research and took a chance with the 2 panel extension for the 'Superyard'. I used a phillips screw driver to take out the plastic end pieces of one of the panel from the extension and switched them around to make it connect between the gate panel and the 18" short panel...volla! Works perfectly! I will add a picture of the finish product in my review...when they ask for a review.
Question:	Does this gate have hinge hardware for swinging open
Answer:	I am using it indoors, but based on how it is built I don't see why it could not be installed outdoors. However, I have no idea if the inner components of the gate locking mechanism would rust over time or not if placed outdoors.

Answer:	Hello,I guess you can if you have flat walls to spring to. My problem was that I have base boards on each side of the wall I was using and I had to add some foam pieces on the top part to be able to secure the gate. I used foam pieces sent to me in a package!!! I hope this helps. I have since purchased two RICHELL gates which work wonders. However, they are a bit pricey!!!

Answer:	There is a button on top that you slide with your thumb towards the gate hinges. This releases a lever on the bottom of the handle, that you squeeze/ lift up with your hand. It releases the top latch. Once the top latch has released, the gate lifts up about 1/2 " releasing the lower latch. Then you can swing the gate. Very EASY to do with one hand. MUCH easier than the way their dog gate latch works. My wife could not operate their dog gate, so we got the Toddleroo. Easier to do than then tell someone how to do it.
Question:	Will this fit a 41 inch opening at the bottom of my stairs? I can't find the exact width that it will extend to

In order to open the gate, there are three steps that need to take place. 1. The locking handle needs to be rotated 2. The tab on the underside of the locking handle needs to be depressed. 3. The entire gate frame needs to be physically lifted while the tab is depressed and then swung open.

Answer:	I will say that it's pretty narrow...without taking a tape measure to it, I'd say 2 1/2 feet. It's especially hard to carry a laundry basket full of laundry through it. You have to carry the laundry basket over the top of the gate, which is kind of a pain. Hope this helps!

Answer:	The middle of the bottom bumper is 4 5/8" from the bottom of the gate and the middle of the top bumper is 27 5/8" from the bottom.

Answer:	No. You need to lift up the bar and take gate aside to walk through and then set it up again. It is a draw back, but I still like it because it is simple and easy and reasonably priced. I do, however, admit that I use this gate on openings that I don't go in and out of very often.
