Answer: The safety handles are very finicky. You need to place your hand just right while applying enough pressure. It would confuse a conscious adult who has never encountered one before. I grew up with a similar design and have used these for a few months on frequently accessed doors and I still have to think about it when I open a door. They can slip even when you know what you are doing if you aren't applying enough pressure in the right place. I would feel comfortable that a sleep walking person who is not entirely used to them would be unable to operate them.

Answer: I haven’t tried the name brand munchkin but my door had lots of wiggle room! If your door is big, this would be a great fit. Just keep in mind the pieces snap together, my toddlers were able to table it apart!
Question: Would this foil a 4 year old's attempts to escape her room during time out
Answer: Wow, a lot of troll answers here! As a parent of a 3 yr old boy, who has learned how to escape his room. Although time-outs have not proved to be that effective with disciplining my son, it sure is MUCH better than physical or verbal abuse. Gives them time to think about what they did, and a chance to calm down. Especially if you have other young children at times it is necessary to separate them. So yes, in instances where for example a 20min time out is the best option for a child that needs to chill out before they can calm down and say sorry and realize what they have done wrong, these are perfect!

Answer: If I understand your question. The width of the lever has about 4 different positions. So, the bottom lever can adjust to 4 different positions and seems to accommodate a 1.5 inch wide lever from a dor. Good luck!

Answer: Yes, when the lock came off the door paint came off with it.
Question: I just got these and will order more, but realized there are no replacement 3M stickies. Where can I get replacements if needed
Answer: I don't think you can get replacements for them. Be careful, they don't stick well and they fell off 3 out of 4 of my doors in just a few days and took the paint off 2 of the doors. I'm very disappointed and ended up replacing them with other ones I had for 12 years that worked great.

Requires an adult to push the release button on both sides of the lever. This can easily be done with just one hand. A toddler's hand isn't as big as yours and he or she will not open the lock.
