Answer:	I don't think it locks, but it collapses very easily by pulling on the indented handle in the middle. Just hold the handle and pull up and it collapses. I suppose if a hand or finger was holding onto a side, it might get pinched, but I don't imagine that happening. Collapses very easily just by pulling on the handle and it stays collapsed.
