Answer:	Yes, you have to buy the conversion kit separately. I think it's around $80. Look it up on Amazon. I got mine on amazon back in 2016 and 2017. I have the same twin for both my kids. I love them. I use the bunk board as the base so the bed is real low - the kids are still small, and we feel safer with the lower height as parents.

Answer:	I'd go with this mattress: CRESCENT MINI CRIB 50 COIL MATTRESS.It's the one DaVinci recommended when we purchased our mini crib. there's a 1" gap difference on one end but isn't noticeable. All other measurements are REALLY snug. Special note: Finding sheets was a nightmare cause most mini/portable crib sheets are 1/2" too short (in diameter). I just got a twin size flat sheet and fold it tightly around the mattress on all sides. Works really well.
