| Answer: | Of course! Remember that bone is porous, so you may not get all of the red coloring out if it is very saturated, but you can definitely make it safe to drink from and get rid of that iron filled, monotheistic taste. I suggest a bit of peroxide first, just to make sure you're really getting into the nitty gritty parts of bone and horn (especially if you have one of those custom blacksmith tips on the drinking end, those have tons of little cracks and crevasses)! Then a rinse with warm water and you can wash it as you normally do (I prefer dye free soaps as I have found that, over extended periods of time, the horn begins to take on the color of your soap. I've had to retire a vaguely orange and slightly blue horn already! Good thing horns come in pairs, so I already had a spare handy! The brush in the handle come in very handy for those embellished bits as well. My favorite brushes to clean drinking horns all have a bit more of a flexible next so that they can really get around that curve, but if your horn in small-medium sized, and there's not an outrageous curve to it (if there is, watch out for that air bubble btw, it will get you everything time. And drinking in front of your own clan, much less your enemies would be terribly embarrassing if you still all over yourself). Happy raiding! 👍 |
