Tools and Materials You May Need:

- Jack and Jack Stands: If needed, raise the front of your vehicle and secure it on jack stands.

- Radiator Cleaning Solution: You can purchase radiator cleaning solutions at an automotive store.
- Water Hose: A regular garden hose will work.
- Funnel: To help fill the radiator and coolant reservoir later.
- Container: Have a container or bucket ready to catch and properly dispose of any drained coolant.
Procedure:
Safety First: Make sure the engine is cool before you begin. Opening a hot radiator can result in burns from hot coolant.
Locate the Radiator: Open the hood and locate the radiator at the front of the engine bay. It looks like a rectangular or square-shaped component with fins.
Remove Obstacles: If there are any components like a radiator shroud or fan in front of the radiator, remove them using your socket set and wrenches. This will give you better access.
Drain Coolant: Place a container or bucket beneath the radiator drain plug, usually located at the bottom of the radiator.Carefully open the drain plug and allow the coolant to drain into the container. Dispose of the old coolant properly.
Use Radiator Cleaning Solution: Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the radiator cleaning solution. Typically, you mix it with water and pour it into the radiator. Run the engine at idle for the specified time to circulate the solution.
Flush with Water: After running the cleaning solution through the system, turn off the engine and let it cool. Then, flush the radiator with clean water through the radiator cap. Use a hose to gently flush water through the radiator until it runs clear, removing any remaining cleaning solution and debris.
Refill with Coolant: Close the drain plug and refill the radiator with the appropriate type and mixture of coolant recommended for your vehicle. Use a funnel to prevent spills. Fill the coolant reservoir to the proper level as well.
Bleed the System: Start the engine and let it run with the radiator cap off for a few minutes to allow air bubbles to escape. Keep adding coolant as needed to maintain the proper level. Once all air bubbles are purged, replace the radiator cap.
Check for Leaks: Look for any signs of coolant leaks around the radiator, hoses, and connections.
Reassemble: Reattach any components you removed earlier, such as the radiator shroud or fan.
Dispose of Old Coolant Properly: Take the old coolant to a recycling center or a facility that can dispose of it safely.
