There's an extra coat of hot wax on Pixar's vibrant, NASCAR-influenced comedy about a world populated entirely by cars. Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) is the slick rookie taking the Piston Cup series by storm when the last race of the season (the film's high-octane opening) ends in a three-way tie. There's the usual spectrum of excellent characters teamed with appropriate voice talent, loads of smooth humor for kids and parents alike, knockout visuals, and a colorful array of sidekicks, including a scene-stealing baby blue forklift named Guido. Lightning's plight is changed with the help of former big-city lawyer Sally Carrera (Pixar veteran Bonnie Hunt), the town's patriarch Doc Hudson (Paul Newman), and kooky tow truck Mater (Larry the Cable Guy). The Incredibles was the first Pixar film to break the 100-minute barrier, but had enough story not to suffer; Cars, at 116 minutes (including some must-see end credit footage), is not as fortunate, plus it never pierces the heart. Trivia fans should have bonanza with the frame-by-frame DVD function; the movie is stuffed with in-jokes, some appearing only for an instant. Ages 5 and up. --Doug Thomas

Nelson Piquet

It’s not often – if ever – that Formula 1 mechanics care to run a fan club for their driver. But that’s what happened at Brabham when Nelson Piquet was not just the lead driver but also a mate with no airs or graces. It exemplified Nelson’s simple choices at the time; driving race cars and having fun.

That had been his ethos ever since arriving from Brazil in 1977, even though finding a drive was as difficult for Nelson Piquet Souto Maior (his full appellation before adopting his mother’s maiden name) as it would be for any 24-year-old, inspired by Emerson Fittipaldi but with nothing more than a few national championships to his name and very little knowledge of the English language.

Piquet’s ability spoke for him when he managed to win a couple of Formula 3 races in Europe with his own car; enough to earn a works drive that brought victory in the 1978 British F3 Championship – and the attention of F1 teams. Almost before he knew it, Nelson was making his debut with a private entrant in the German Grand Prix that year, followed by three more outings with another small team.

His ability to stay out of trouble in such high-profile surroundings was enough to warrant a third entry by Brabham for the final races of the 1978 season in North America.

Lewis Hamilton

As a youngster competing in karting, Lewis Hamilton was heavily influenced by Ayrton Senna. By the time Senna had won forty-one Grands Prix and three world titles in 1993, Hamilton was eight years old and beginning a motor-racing career that would actually surpass his hero.

As British Karting Champion that year, Hamilton got to meet Senna. Whereas other Formula 1 drivers had tended to ignore the youngster, Senna extended a firm hand, looked Lewis in the eye and spoke as one racer to another. It epitomised all that Hamilton had expected and, poignantly, exacerbated his deep sense of sorrow a few months later when Senna was killed during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

But the inspiration had been deeply ingrained, Lewis drawn by what he described as the Brazilian’s dramatically different style of very fast driving, coupled with a warrior-like refusal to be beaten. Senna’s performances had an unmistakable edge.

Answer:	it works just like a fan, it does not make the air cold or hot, it just circulates it very quickly. I never tested it to see if it defrosted windows.

Answer:	I can give you a rough estimate. It is approximately 6 ft. I was surprised. I had purchased extension links expecting half that length. No need for them. I have the fan mounted in the back seat areas clipped to the clothes rack above the back window and the extra cord drapes down back to the floor.

Answer:	It depends on the vehicle. If your cigarette lighter gets hot with the ignition off, then yes the fan will also function while the ignition is off. However it's probably not the best idea because eventually the battery will be drained.

Answer:	It really depends on how many amps the power station draws. If it exceeds the 15 amp rating, it may shut down prematurely. This unit takes 120 volt power and inverts it to 12 volt power. I used mine to run my mascerator unit on my RV and it did a great job. And that macerator was a 20 amp draw so I was careful not to run it for a great length of time. Hope this helps....but I think it will work.

Answer:	The eyelets will not fit the terminal screw post on a regular size battery. However, they are easily changed and the effort is well worth it. I have three Interstate deep cycle batteries on my fishing pontoon and one of these units on each battery. Each battery has its own battery box. When it is charging time, just plug the charger into this pig tail and charge. No removing the batter box lid to get to the battery terminals. Great little piece of equipment. I am sure that it could handle more up to the capacity of the connector and or wires however I do not know what that would be. It is a very well made device. Answer:	Due to California Energy Commission (CEC) regulations, this charger cannot be shipped into California, as it is not energy efficient enough and it does not comply with the new regulations.

Answer:	I believe the answer is "NO". From a brief review of the Owner's Manual, page 12, the only input voltage specification called out is 120V AC@60Hz, 4.8A. The manual does not mention the power routinely found in Europe or Asia, but does warn against using any type of power cord adapter other than what is provided. You would normally find a different type of receptacle outside the US. You may want to call Schumacher at 1-800-621-5485, and ask if they manufacture a 50Hz/240 VAC version for overseas sale.
Question:	How does the desulphate mode compare with compettion (eg Xtreme Charge & Battery Minder) ? Gott save an 8D
Answer:	I have a BatteryMinder 12248 as well as the 10030A. The Schumacher is junk in comparison. It basically uses a 15 volt charge to desulfate instead of high frequency voltage spikes. The higher voltage boils the battery and only runs when the charger thinks it's required, which is almost never. The BatteryMinder constantly desulfates, even in float mode. The 10030A is not temperature compensated during the charge phase, the 12248 is. I could go on, but you probably get the point. Get the 12248 BatteryMinder.
