Answer:	They are a very durable hard plastic, but i wouldn't recommend hitting them with a metal hammer. In short time after receiving these, i was able to fashion a wooden mallet to use with these chisels and it works nicely. If you don't have a mallet yet, use a short 2x4 before a metal hammer.

Answer:	I use this for Arctic Cat because it's required to keep the exhaust valves from sticking. For my Polaris sleds I use conventional Blue Purple oil. So if you have exhaust valves, this or some other synthetic oil is required. If not, conventional oil is fine.
