Answer: | Ok from the NEC you are required to run 40 amps for this device. Then what should be done is place a 30 amp disconnect before the device. So from the panel you will run 8 gauge wire to support the 40 amps. Then that will terminate in the disconnect which would be fused at 30 amps. So if the devices pulls more than 30 it will blow the fuse since this device shouldn't be drawing MORE than 30 amps. |

Answer: | Yes, this has the universal J1772 plug and will work well with your Clarity. This should be powered by a dedicated 240 volt, 40 amp circuit with a 40 amp 2-pole breaker. However, the amperage can easily be changed (with internal dip switches) to 16 or 24 amps. At 24 amps, you would use a 2-pole 30 amp breaker, which sounds like what you have. |
