Question:	Can this sander be hooked up to a vaccum using standard attachments
Answer:	Yes it can, I hook mine upto a Rigid Shop Vac. However, because of the size of a shop vac type hose I would suggest going into a smaller hose that you would attach to the larger shop vac hose. For your Information, this sander does have a connector to connect to a dust extraction hose instead of the included dust system. This sander does make a lot of dust so going into an external extraction system is a big help.

Answer:	What, do you guys just make up answers as you go? Yes, it can be used to polish your car. You would do best with the softest backing plate and then you'll need a foam pad to attach. Look at the Lake Country Pads and they recommend an oversized pad of, I think, 7.5" for the 6" polishers. But they do make a 6.5" pad. Then, to make your life a bit easier, look for a microfiber bonnet to go over that. That's kind of personal preference. As compared to the Porter Cable 7424XP, that machine does one thing well, car detailing. This sander does everything well so if you don't want a single purpose machine think about it. As for quality, not many machines can compete with Bosch.

Question:	how easy is it to connect this to a shop-vac? What is the size/shape of the port on the sander than a shop vac hose would connect to
Answer:	Very easy with Ridgid Shop Vacs. Size and shape is a 7/8" outer diameter circle. To connect to Ridgid brand shop vacs, simply use a Carlon 3/4 in. PVC conduit box adapter from Home Depot's electrical department - the inner diameter is a direct fit for the sander's dust port and the outer diameter is a direct fit for the nozzle end of the 1-1/4 inch hoses. The conduit adapter is 50 cents and there is also a Ridgid 3-piece adapter kit for $8.50 to step down to the conduit adapter from the 2-1/2 inch hoses. No glue, no tape, no hose clamps - just press the adapter in and get to sanding.
Question:	How well does it collect dust when attached to vacuum system? I'm comparing this with Festool sander
Answer:	With a small shop vac, mine collects about 90 % of the dust...but needs frequent cleaning of the vac filters....depends on the material being sanded, and the sanding grit being used. With the vac tube open, the sander jets a stream of dust out of the chute. This is an excellent unit....but I have zero experience with Festool.....
Question:	The first picture shows a plastic type "dust bag," while the other pictures show a cloth type bag. Which bag is included? Does it fall off easily
Answer:	I bought mine about 6 months ago. The dust bag is cloth and the attachment does not fall off but could be better designed. I am on by 5th or 6th sander is about 15 years and all handled dust about the same. All of my previous sanders broke or stopped working after about a year and the 2 different Rigid models only lasted about 6 months. This is why I bought this more expensive model. So far it is working great.
Question:	How is the vibration on this sander, can you barely feel it
Answer:	Mine is a very low mileage model. But I can say it is a pleasure to use after having some low cost sanders in the past. I think, even with extended usage, the vibration level is low enough to not cause any stress from using it.
Question:	Is there anyway to get into corners or sand curves with this sander? Is that a problem
Answer:	Sanding curves is no problem but it won't get into enclosed corners

Answer:	The cord is 6 ft. 5 in. long.

Answer:	Yes. I ordered a box of Bosch papers (80 - 220 grain) and they work great with B&D.

Answer:	Spews dust ALL OVER THE PLACE !!.....I'm ready to send mine back.....the dust recovery system is flawed

Answer:	Make sure your battery is fully charged. This brushless tools aren't as energy efficient as advertised. I use the little 2 Amp Hour XR batteries and I get a solid 30 to 35 minutes max of non stop sanding before I need to swap batteries. If you have still have your issue with a fully charged battery, return the unit.

Answer:	Most univeral 8 hole paper works fine. Get any grit you need.

Answer:	You can hook this up to any vacuum that uses a 1-1/4" nozzle (standard shop vac size) using ASIN B00CB216M6 and these clamps B00XAKHK2I (just search those codes, and you'll see the items).

Answer:	I just ordered a pack of Mestool 120 grit for the sander. You just want to make sure the hole pattern of the discs line up with those in the sander’s pad.

Question:	Can this be used to sand a car
Answer:	I don't know why not. We wear out at least two of these sanders a year in our shop and we use them to sand wood, plastic, aluminum, and steel daily, and sometimes other types of material as well. If you sand a car this sander would not be suitable for wet finish sanding as it is not sealed for that purpose.

Answer:	There is a separate dial numbered 1-6 on the top of the handle. makes for precise sandingI generally use it set on 5 and it does an awesome job on metal.

Answer:	Unfortunately no and I assume it has to do with the vacuum holes not lining up. If you want that functionality you have to buy a more expensive unit such as http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-ROS65VCL-Rear-Handle-Vibration-Control/dp/B005NZ6EHU which I'm sure is well worth the investment and is the same price if you bought both a 5 and 6 inch separately.

Answer:	I have replaced pads multiple times. Just one 5mm? allen screw in the middle - new pads available on Amazon for around $10. Soft and Hard, try both.Hook and loop or velcro pads wear out faster than PSA stick-on pads because at some point the hooks on the pads wear out and discs start flying off at an invisible speed, at which point you are grinding the the remaining hooks off your pad at a very high rate. You will notice that your sander is no longer producing any dust. When a PSA pad gets worn you can always refresh it with a quick wipe with a hot solvent. No quick fix for worn hook and loop.If a hook and loop unit is your only sander on a hot job, you definitely need to have a backup pad since these go bad at a logarithmic rate compared to PSA pads. Advantage is that you can use the new mesh discs with superior dust collection and disc life. This is a good unit unit with excellent dust control - the speed control is your friend - learn to use it and adjust as the disc wears.Take this from a guy who has spent far too much of his life smoothing various materials with orbital sanders...worn out and thrown away dozens.
