Answer:	The only way to make sure a thermometer is accurate is to calibrate it. This is done by boiling water and using the thermometer to test the water. If the thing reads 121 degrees, it is accurate. If not, then it needs to be calibrated...that is, the dial needs to be rotated in relation to the dial so it reads 212 degrees. From what I see, most dial type oven thermometers are no longer manufactered with a small nut on the back to allow calibration. Find an old one at a yeard sale and you might be able to.

Five micron sediment filter traps sediment and other particulate matter like dirt, silt and rust which will affect the taste and appearance of your water. The activated carbon in the filter reduces chlorine and conditions the water prior to the RO membrane. The sediment and carbon filters are both rated for 1,500 gallons of water to pass through before replacement. In addition, the sediment cartridge housing is made of a special translucent material that allows you to see build-up on the cartridge itself. After the water is filtered by the membrane, there is usually a small amount of total dissolved solids (TDS) left in the water. In certain non-drinking water applications, it is important to remove the remaining TDS from the water. This is accomplished by filtering the water through a resin that is charged with cation and anion resins (H+ and OH-). As the resin absorbs the TDS, it will change color. When all resin has changed color, it is time to replace the DI filter.

As long as it is still wet and kept within operating temperatures and out of direct sunlight, it should work. We suggest purchasing the resin when you think you will need it within a month or two.
