Answer:	removal of old one is different for each vehicle. once old is off, just slide over stick and secure with 3 allen head set screws. test pushing down does engage shifter and thats it. 5 minutes,tops.

Answer:	The whole knob is pushed down and then you slide the selector backwards into whichever gear you need. I have one in my 1990 vw cabriolet to clean up the shifting area as there was an older style t-shifter in it. The entire assembly is easy as everything screws together and it comes with the hex wrench required to fasten it to your gear selector. The force needed to select the gear is minimal as well, so not to worry, about putting the car into reverse and neutral etc.
