Answer:	The key is preventing flapping/movement, any fabric that flaps in the wind long enough will come apart, the more flapping you can prevent, the longer it will last. I would use the provided straps as well as wrap some string tightly all around it, make sure that fabric is nice and tight.

Answer:	It depends how you position the pad on the tailgate but it covers my tailgate on a 2012 Tacoma with the Velcro bands that hold the bikes positioned mostly in the tailgate. It does a great job covering the tailgate!

Answer:	Not sure own a Dodge. It has a wide top to gate. It fits that perfectly.

Answer:	There is a opening that flips up for you to get to the tailgate latch. This is usually held down with Velcro. If your camera is near the latch you could fix the cover up and out of the way but that would expose the tailgate to damage if the wanted to place a bike near the center.

Answer:	It feels like a half inch of dense cushion.
