The oil comes out dark coffee colored after 6K miles, not black, and still looks to have nearly the same viscocity. The engine got quieter and after watching the Project Farm "Oil Shootout" where the two top oils were Amsoil and this very 5W/30 Pennzoil, I stopped using the Walmart equivalent oil, and immediately saw much less burn off over the life of the oil and the puff of blue smoke at cold start up my car has always done, greatly reduced (not sure what the smoke is from, but the car has done it since day 1 and has not been a problem at all- it's hardly noticeable). This is a wonderful oil, so you can almost count on it being cheapened as the price increases over time.

Answer:	I have a 2009 Cobalt. I change my oil when the indicator comes up on the dash. Usually within the time frame of 5 -1 % of life left. My Cobalt has almost 200,000 miles on it. The computer actually knows when the oil needs changed. How? The computer calculates the length of time the car runs, temperatures the car is exposed and more. In effect, the computer knows when the oil is losing it's level of viscosity. Viscosity = Sticky. Oil needs to be sticky to cling to the internal parts of the engine. Again, oil must be sticky to be protect the engine. Trust me, the car's computer knows. The only way the car doesn't know is if you don't start it and or you don't drive it. In that case, you would need to change the oil far more often. The worst effect any engine deals with is not being run. Second worst is starting the car and not allowing the engine to reach normal operating temperatures. Start the car and drive it. Doing so causes the moisture in the oil to be burned off. Moisture in the crankcase causes internal rust. Internal rust can damage the crank bearings. I have 4 GM cars. They all have high mileage. Let the car tell you when to change the oil. Answer:	There is a good possibility that the vehicle would take to long to pick up it's oil pressure on a cold start. some vehicles won't pick up the oil pressure at all if it's cold enough and the oil is to heavy. I would stick with the vehicle recommendations on weight of oil.

Answer:	It is not on VAG listing as approved and Valvoline does not list the specification as other manufacturers such as Castro, however it is what I use in my 2.0T VW Passat. Valvoline 300,000 mile Guarantee should apply if your engine is not high mileage. I went with Valvoline since they offer the guarantee on any lubricated part failure.

For the drain interval, Valvoline always recommends following the manufacturer specified drain interval regardless of grade.
