11 best silicone lube for car

Silicone-based lubricants for cars are a type of automotive lubricant that is used for various applications in the automotive industry. These lubricants are made from silicone oil, a synthetic lubricating substance known for its excellent properties in high-temperature and high-pressure conditions. Here are some key points about silicone lube for cars:

  1. High Temperature Resistance: Silicone lubricants have a high resistance to heat and can withstand extreme temperatures, making them suitable for use in engines, transmissions, and other high-temperature areas of a vehicle.

  2. Water Resistance: Silicone-based lubricants are known for their water-resistant properties. They can provide protection against moisture, making them ideal for use in parts exposed to the elements, such as door seals and rubber gaskets.

  3. Non-corrosive: Silicone lubes are non-corrosive, which means they won't cause rust or corrosion on metal components. This makes them suitable for various automotive applications where metal parts are involved.

  4. Compatibility: Silicone lubricants are often compatible with a wide range of materials, including rubber, plastic, and metal. This versatility makes them useful for lubricating various automotive components, such as hinges, O-rings, and gaskets.

  5. Long-lasting: Silicone-based lubricants tend to provide long-lasting lubrication, reducing the frequency of reapplication.

  6. Dielectric Properties: Silicone lubes also have dielectric properties, which means they are electrically insulating. This makes them suitable for applications where electrical components and connections need to be protected from moisture and corrosion.

  7. Multipurpose Use: Silicone lubricants can be used in various automotive applications, such as lubricating window tracks, hinges, bushings, and seals. They are also used in some specialized applications, such as lubricating brake caliper slide pins.

  8. Silicone Spray: Silicone lubricants are available in various forms, including sprays, gels, and greases. Silicone spray is often used for coating and protecting various automotive surfaces, including rubber trim, weather stripping, and plastic parts.

  9. Caution with Brake Components: While silicone lubricants have many automotive applications, it's essential to avoid using them on or near brake components, as they can interfere with brake performance.

  10. Maintenance: When using silicone lubes for automotive maintenance, it's crucial to follow manufacturer recommendations and guidelines for specific applications and parts.

Silicone-based lubricants have proven to be valuable in the automotive industry due to their versatility and performance characteristics. However, it's essential to choose the right type and grade of silicone lubricant for a particular automotive application and to follow proper maintenance procedures to ensure the best results and the longevity of automotive components.

Question: Can I use this in the tracks of my retractable roll n lock tonneau cover to prevent freezing in winter
Answer: Per the model number, the blade is DA31-00010C.
Question: Car coolant o-rings, good to use
Answer: Per the parts list for rs2533sw/xaa, DA31-00010D is the correct condenser fan blade.
Question: Can i apply it to door seals, my doors frozen and i cant open them
Answer: its a pain to get off easier to put back, you may have to break a tab that hold the fan housing to the fridge. I believe there is a few screws that you have to take off for the fan to come off once you have it out.it has been awhile since i put it in so i cant go into more detail, sorry
Question: Will this prevent cracking of rubber toe rand on hiking boots
Answer: The answer to your questions is NO. One pair of buds cannot split the R & L buds to two different devices AT THE SAME TIME. My (Pandemic driven) solution was - I got a second pair. Once we started working from home with Zoom / video calls became a regular thing this exact thing occurred to me. have 2 pairs. My main pair is dedicated to my Note 10+ for music and calls. The other pair is linked to my laptop and work computer for video calls. It's just easier to have one pair for each. Otherwise, you're pairing and unpairing and re pairing and... That becomes a pain in the butt quick! I've made phone calls while on zoom meetings and have done this a few times. THEN, you can actually wear 1 bud from each set. It costs a few bucks but - Problem solved!

User questions & answers

Question: can i use this on my caliper pins? And caliper guides
Answer: Likely MLC instead of TLC memory, and a smart chip that will distribute write cycles evenly across the different banks of memory compared to a card which would immediately write to the first free block. I do notice write rates are a touch slower on this card (32-33MB/s) compared to U-III cards that are not endurance spec. This leads me to believe new writes are going through an additional chip.
Question: This isn't the same as the old white tin 3m copper brake lube, is it? They have the same part number but consist of different ingredients
Answer: No. You need Samsung fan part# BN31-00014C
Question: I plan to use this on my motorcycle disk brake calipers. Are there application differences between this 3m Grease and the 3m Silicone Paste
Answer: Yes, but keep in mind there are 2 fans in the refrigerator. This fan is often returned as the wrong fan. Suggest you compare the number printed on the fan itself
Question: Can this be used on wheel studs
Answer: Yes, DA31-00010D will fit RF4287HARS/XAA-00.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the heat tolerance
Answer: This product did not work for me.
Question: Can I use this grease on my engine block heater cartridge
Answer: Can it be used with fat 32 device?
Question: Is this ok to use on restaurant equipment? I need to apply some on the heat element of a popcorn maker. It won't touch the food but wanted to be sure
Answer: Yes, I have both the 128 and 32 as a backup for my Tesla, both work great. If you go above 32 you have to use another program to format to fat 32, but it’s not difficult.
Question: What is the thermal conductivity? (W/m/K) "High thermal conductivity" means nothing
Answer: I have a DR900S and it has worked fine for me over the last 7-8 months without issue. Well... mostly without issue. I did once need to re-initialize it as the camera was rebooting every few minutes. Still, I blame the camera itself more than the card. Frankly, the Blackvue system while solid hardware suffers from software bugs and has the tale-tell earmarks of being forced to push something into production rather than smoothing out the rough edges. Regardless, the card itself has functioned well and even if I had to replace it yearly (which there is no indication of needing to be done) it would be a worthwhile investment.

Question: Will this be enough material for all 4 pads replacement
Answer: I use one full pump and it lasts around 15 minutes. You definitely don’t need a lot.
Question: Would this also work for sway bar bushings
Answer: We have white sheets, the oil is clear, I haven’t noticed it discoloring our sheets at all.
Question: this is probably a dum question ,is this the stuff that goes on back of the break pads, pads use to come with the glue in the days

User questions & answers

Question: what % silicone is used? Thanks
Answer: The Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for WD-40 Specialist Water Resistant Silicone Lube (available online at wd40specialist.com) lists the weight percent or percent by weight of silicone (poly dimethylsiloxane) as 1-5 percent (shown at bottom of page 1 of the MSDS). Page 1 of the MSDS also lists a toll-free Information telephone number for the WD-40 Company (1-888-324-7596) if you need additional info about this product not included on the MSDS. I called this number to confirm the percentage of silicone in this lube. A very courteous operator indicated that a product technical specialist would either call me back or send me an email within 24-48 hours with the answer. I gave her my name and telephone number and should be hearing back within 2 days. You can use this same strategy to get answers to any other technical questions you may have about this product. Hope this helps.
Question: How does this smell? I need something to stop a squeaky brake pedal, so this would be used inside the passenger area of my jeep
Answer: Short Answer: It smells a little minty with a hint of oiliness. I wouldn't be surprised if they used a little oil of wintergreen in it, but the exact formula is a trade secret... (but that's not all you need to know). It's probably a pretty good choice for your application.Longer Answer: It's probably a reasonable choice, if you get the version of WD40 that's the silicone spray, which is shown in the picture that came with your request for information. It turns out that WD40 has become a brand name rather than a product name -- and they have several quite different products with different capabilities on the market (... which is why I amended my original answer to this question, because I -- somewhat sloppily -- thought was aimed at the original WD40). If you tried to use regular old non-silicone WD40, it would probably not be the best of ideas for your brake pedal: Old style plain-old WD40 is intended for use more as a water dispersal ("WD") agent rather than as a lubricant. It has very minimal lubrication capability. I recommend the version that you particularly inquired about, which is a more modern spray silicone lubricant. The silicone (which has a little odor, but not terribly strong). In any case, it's a good idea to put some newspaper or other material behind the area you're spraying, to avoid getting the oil on other surfaces -- silicones have a habit of spreading around (that's why they're good lubricants!) and can leave little oily spots that are hard to clean (unless you use a pine or orange oil cleaning material). My belief is that it probably would be optimal to have a little grease in the pedal linkage to prevent noise (becauses greases are great lubricants for things that don't move at high speed), but you're not apt to be able to get a grease -- even a spray -- into the squeaky nooks and crannies so that a silicone spray would be more likely to get to where the noise is coming from.BTW: The real use for which the original WD40 was developed was to keep water off metal surfaces that would cause them to corrode in humid environments -- e.g., missile fuel/oxidizer tanks that had to sit around for years. If you're interested, check out the Wikipedia entry on WD40: it's pretty fascinating. Here in FL, an occasional spray with WD40 will allow steel tools to last forever in a humid garage or shed or basement; without it, they're rusty and unusable in less than a year.
Question: What's the difference between this and regular WD
Answer: WD-40 is not a lubricant. This is.
Question: Can this be used on vinyl windows to slide easier
Answer: Yes!! That's what we bought it for and it has worked miracles. The windows are like new. I keep a can handy because it does wear off but just another spray and the windows work again.

User questions & answers

Question: can this to be use for electric connector
Answer: Its soft, just dont over inflate it and it wont hurt when you catch it. quite easy to catch.
Question: just opened and used last night. is everyone's version of this clear or milky white? Mine was milky white and not clear like i thought this would be. Did i get a bad can
Answer: Mine came with 10 batteries. the brand name on the package I got says Tianqiu...basically Alkaline Battery AG13/357A a littler bigger than a watch battery.
Question: compared to "Silglyde
Answer: Not our experience at all... but we live in Oregon so maybe warmer climates would have a different situation? We check the air level at the beginning of camping season and it stays in the trailer all summer and camps with us, plus we take it to the park and driveway in between trips. The (non-Glow City) basketball stores right next to it gets droopy but not the GC soccer ball.
Question: Can we use this on car brake? Like the caliper systems
Answer: Not certain but they give you quite a few extra so you have time to order more.

Question: Can this be used on a satellite dish
Answer: Thank you for your question! No, the 3M 08897 Silicone Lubricant Dry would not be the appropriate product for your application. We would suggest contacting the satellite dish manufacturer for a product suggestion.
Question: Does this have petrolium? It doesn't say anywhere
Answer: Not to sure what you mean by petroleum? It contains in this order: Isobutane (CAS#(75-28-50); Isoparaffinic Hydrocarbon Solvent (CAS#64742-48-9); Poly(dimethylsoiloxane), (CAS# 63148-62-9); Heptane (CAS#142-82-5). This is a very heavy/thick silicone spray. I use it on everything, car tires, rubber molding & trim, door slides, doesn't stain or evaporate away. It's worth the price.Let me know if you have any more questions. Check CAS#s, and MSDS sheet.
Question: Can i use this to stop the squeaky of my hardwood floor? i saw some posts saying it's safer than wd
Answer: Due to resultant slickness, I would not use this where people or pets walk, it would risk a fall. Care should be taken that it not get on floors, it is not for walking surfaces. Please do not apply it in this way. Even furniture polish overspray onto floors can result in hazardous slippery falls. Squeaks in floors would best be fixed through different means. I am no carpenter, but I would think the squeak is probably underneath- between the hardwood and subfloor and the spray would not reach anyway. It is a very good product, but just not suitable for application to a floor because of the slippery result.
Question: does this work on the bar on my blinds? also does it come with a long straw thing to attach to get in difficult places
Answer: Should work for your blinds, but no it does not come with a straw. Great lubricant though. I use it instead of WD-40 now.

User questions & answers

Question: Is ptfe good for ball bearings or bad
Answer: Teflon(PTFE) is a good lubricant but the answer depends on your particular application. Is this a general question? Is their a grease zerts or access fitting for a grease gun on the equipment? Is it high speed or low RPM? Garden tractor, conveyor rollers or 20K RPM spindle bearings? Call the equipment, bearing and lubricant manufacturers for their recommendations.
Question: Do you think this is safe to use on a 50 caliber ammo can lid gasket
Answer: Here is a link: http://smith-wessonforum.com/ammo/301056-steel-gi-ammo-can-gasket-care.html
Question: Is it non-toxic and can be used with food equipment
Answer: Non-toxic does not mean food grade. If you want to lubricate food processors or any equipment to do with food (that includes your water faucets etc), use 21030 synthetic grease which is a food grade lubricant.
Question: What's the difference between "super lube 92003 silicone lubricating grease with ptfe" and "super lube 21030 synthetic grease
Answer: One is a silicone grease. the other is . . . not. (It may be a PAO formula.) On the Super-lube website (under Tech Data Sheets) it says, "There is no Silicone in Super Lube® Multi-Purpose Grease with Syncolon® (PTFE)." Although the name seems slightly different, on that webpage it specifically includes product #21030.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this be used on spark plugs
