Overkill yes but you'll never have issues.Better yet buy the highest obtain fuel you can get. In my case I use 93 octane fuel and use 1 oz per gallon. Again, have never had an issue, even with a chainsaw sitting for over 9+ months. Always starts on first/second pull.Do the same for cars that I have let sit in storage. Even at 87 octane. Still do an oz per gallon especially with the ethanol mix (10% here).Make sure to mix and then run engine so Stabil is in the fuel lines all the way up to the engine. It does no good if you just put Stabil in the tank but it is not in the carb or injectors. |

| Answer: | I don't know if it will "refresh" gasoline that old. It should reduce some of the "gummy" deposits that form in older gas. I once used this successfully to unclog the fuel jets on an outboard motor by simply pouring a fairly high concentration of it into the fuel tank and letting it sit a few days. However, three years is a long time for gas to sit if it wasn't already mixed with a good fuel stabilizer all that time. If you mix this stuff with fresh gas, I would definitely feel comfortable using that gas 1 to 2 years later (and have done so in my lawn mower), expecting good results. |
