Answer:	The high voltage is manageable with the use of gloves and disconnecting the battery before beginning the removal process. In addition, however, on many cars the access to the back of the headlight lens is very difficult. In my case to install the drivers side light required I dismantle the bumper and grill and never touch the glass of the new bulbs with your bare hands. The oil from your hands could cause failure. A good place to learn more about HID bulb replacement and certain things to know about igniters is on YouTube, so check it out.

Answer:	Considering the age of your escalade you will be labor time ahead if you replace both. I have a 2009 Escalade Hybrid, I replaced both sides, ballasts included. Much brighter. I also replaced the top driving lights with a switchback led light, switches from 6000K white to 3000K yellow when you turn them on/off/on. I know the part number of 880 is not correct for the Cadillac but they fit and work great. (Already had the 880 for my 2001 Sierra fog lights, so I tried it.) This was in Jan. 2018, still working great as of July, 2019.
