| Answer: | IF you have BOTH of the original remote (keys with button or Ford calls it an IKT) keys then then you can get a 4 button key to work as a replacement for a three button key. With only one remote key and the Valet key, you can get the car to recognize the new key and start your car however the programming necessary for enabling the remote buttons needs to be completed by a dealer. If you only have one key, you can't do anything without the dealer. I have a Ford Edge 2010 with three buttons on two remote keys from the factory and a Valet key with no buttons. I lost one of the remote keys. I purchased this remote with the additional "trunk lift" button. After getting the key cut (you may need to know this one appears to be brass) it will insert and mechanically turn however it will not engage the starter until using the programming instructions available on site referenced by Keyless2GO. Using my Valet key and the one original remote key I was able to simply program (30 secs) my car to recognize the new key from Keyless2GO. I understand it will cost me $90 if I want the dealer to finish the programming to allow my new key's remote buttons to function. |

They will work the same as the combo key but I don't push the trunk button by mistake when starting the auto. programing is same for the key and the fob programs easy with ignition on and off usually 8 times to enter program mode. once in program mode the auto will lock and unlock the door to signal ready. Just push any button on remote and the locks will cycle again. you must reprogram all remotes together as all old remotes are removed when any fob is programed. start key is programed the same as original design key. |

Even if starting off another running cars battery, hook up the jumpers and wait 5 minutes, then try. This is not anything with this device, it's just how jumping dead batteries is. If the battery is mildly dead then it may start right up immediately. This thing started my 99 Cherokee 4.0L no prob. |
