Remove Screw with Phillips Screwdriver

Open the unit by removing the two mesh filters and locate the switch in the middle of the fan unit. Remove the screw with a Phillips screwdriver.

Change Switch Position

Change the switch position to the ductless position which allows the exhaust to flow out of the front vent. Replace screw with Phillips screwdriver.

Add Charcoal Filter (Part # CFK4)

For this step, you will need Part # CFK4 Carbon Filter Kit, sold separately. Place the charcoal filter on top of the middle piece and screw into place. Replace mesh filters and your range hood is now ductless!

Answer:	Hi John, I am not sure at what heat it will turn on however it does have a thermostat which will turn on the fan or increase the fan speed from low to high when excessive heat is detected. I think it may be best to contact the manufacturer to ask what temperature threshold it is configured to turn on. I was able to find more information on the HEAT SENTRY system at Broan's Website in the instructions manual on page 3. Answer:	They are not very thick. I would like to add, I have used these before and they work wonderful, in that they keep the stove clean. You can cut thru them easily to fit the stove burners. When they get dirty, I wash them in the sink of hot water and soap detergent and dry them and put back in place on stove. For me it is a GREAT product!

Answer:	This unit is ductless, so it is not vented to the outside. As such, it is not designed to remove grease. The charcoal filter that is used to absorb orders will collect grease. If you do a lot of cooking that generates a lot of grease, the charcoal filter will need to be changed more often.
Question:	Does it attach only at the top? We only have an open valance over the stove. Can it be attached by the sides/back
Answer:	We have a shelf over our range so we were able to attach it through the holes in the top,but it also has four holes in the back so it can be attached to the wall.
Question:	Are the sides of the unit finished if there are no cabinets on the sides
Answer:	The 413623 does have finished sides.
Question:	is this thing "45 inches like the specs say it is, or is it a 42" hood
Answer:	It's 42", the box and packing maybe 45", but hood itself is 42".

Answer:	That's correct. The air flows through the filter on the underside and out through the three columns of vent slats you see on the front of the range hood. There is no connection to other vents or ducts in a wall or through the roof.
Question:	What is the recommended height above the counter top for this vent
Answer:	I'm not sure what your setup is, but when I did mine, I hardwired the hood into the existing black and white wires that were used in the old hood. Chances are that if you don't have the pre wired design that I had, you will need a power cord kit if you plan to physically plug the unit into a traditional wall socket.
Question:	what size duct do you need with this hood insert? and is it compatible with all ranges

Answer:	The transition of 24-hour clock to 12-hour clock: The default is the 24-hour system when power-on. In the off state, long press the plus button and the highest-level button for 3 seconds at the same time to switch to 12-hour system (Please noted: The time must be reset after conversion).

Question:	Is one end wider than the other end
Answer:	This fan allows cooking fumes to pass through a grease filter and a thin replaceable activated charcoal filter. It cannot absorb large amounts of cooking odors or smoke. You need a fan that is ducted to the outside to effectively remove cooking odors and smoke.
