Question:	Is this b&w 5th wheel hitch better than the reese goosebox gen2? i own a duramax with a 6.5ft standard bed
Answer:	No. Get the under bed gooseneck hitch / turn over ball specific to your truck. Not really hard to install it by yourself, does take a few hours or it did me. The companion / 5th wheel hitch slides into the hole in bed where the gooseneck ball would go. Release pin thru it and tighten the locking bolt to 60 ft lbs. Takes longer to lift it outta the bed of the trk than to get it ready to remove. Top plate comes off stand, then lift stand out. The stand is much heavier than the top plate but nothing one man can’t handle. Wouldn’t want to carry it very far but from the trk bed to the shop where I store it when not in use is no big deal. I have a plastic bed liner and had to cut strips in it for the frame feet strips to set in the bed corrugations. U don’t have to do that with spray in liner or no liner. I’m very happy with the easy and fast swap from a flat truck bed to gooseneck hitch or 5th wheel hitch & vice versa.

Answer:	Your latch will drop back into place and you tighten the bolt, after you tighten the bolt double check you pull for the goose neck, it won't release because of the pressure put on it from tightening the bolt. After I pulled my fifth wheel couple times I double checked the bolt. good to go.

Question:	So I pull the pin and remove the ball and this hitch just drops in and just tighten bolts and good to go
Answer:	Not sure where you got 52 pounds. That might be for just the head. Hitch is two pieces Base is heavy and I guess about eighty pounds for base. Two pieces together is well over 100 pounds. I always take my hitch out of truck when returning from trip and I use a rope hoist (7 to 1 ) ratio. Being 77 years old weight is too much to easily lift.

How to select a 5th wheel hitch: What size is the truck bed?

Your truck bed length will determine the type of mounting platform you’ll need for your 5th wheel hitch: legs or a roller. 5th wheel legs are the standard option for mounting a 5th wheel hitch, but they will only fit in a long-bed truck. For short-bed trucks, extra clearance may be needed when making tight turns. A 5th wheel roller will allow the hitch to roll backward, providing enough clearance between the trailer overhang and the truck cab.

Does the truck have an OEM puck system?

If you own a truck from Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Nissan or Ram, your truck bed may be equipped with a puck system (pictured). If your truck has a long bed with the puck system, select a CURT 5th wheel hitch with the appropriate OEM puck system legs. If your truck has a short bed with the puck system, select a CURT 5th wheel hitch with the appropriate OEM puck system roller or roller adapter.

Do you prefer permanent base rails?

If your truck does not have the OEM puck system, you will need to install 5th wheel rails. The traditional method for installing base rails is to use vehicle-specific under-bed brackets. First, select the custom under-bed brackets that fit your specific make and model, as well as a set of industry-standard base rails. Next, if you have a long-bed truck, select a 5th wheel hitch with legs. If you have a short-bed truck, select a 5th wheel hitch with a roller. Answer:	If you go to the Anderson Manufacturer sight, they show you how. For me, it works great and is easy to do. It works great for my 35ft. 5th wheel. It is great if you use your gooseneck hook up for other trailers (which I do) and do not want the standard large 5th wheel hitch in the back of your truck. This whole setup is awesome, lightweight with easy install and easy removal for dailyu full use of the bed of your truck.

We’ve taken the hitch plate, rocker arm and crossmember and combined all three functions into our SuperLite King Pin Adapter. The adapter clamps to the trailer’s king pin and mounts an upside-down ball in place of all three. Then we took a gooseneck coupler, and turned it upside-down and mounted it to a base that fits industry standard rails or PullRite’s totally removable SuperRails featuring Clean Bed Technology (CBT). We’ve added a funnel to the gooseneck coupler so that all you have to do is aim the ball over any part of the funnel to guide the ball into the coupler tube. Answer:	Yes I have it installed on 2006 2500hd with a 6.6 ft bed and have not had any problems but always careful if making a tight turn. Actually amazed with the amount of clearance I have turning. Had the superglide(great hitch) but loving the weight of the superlight! Quality product!!!
Question:	Anyone use this hitch on a 6'9" bed with the ball adapter forward of the king pin and have any clearance issues at the bed side rails
Answer:	Not that I'm aware of. Your gooseneck hitch is designed to work on a surface mounted hitch ball. This hitch sets about 10-12 inches above the bed floor and is set for the ball to be on the trailer, not on the hitch. Also the front end of your trailer would be about 12 inches or so high. Not a safe towing aspect.
Question:	Manufacturer says hitch is only design for long bed trucks. Has anyone install this in a short bed truck

Answer:	There are like 3 slots to adjust the hitch height.

Answer:	Not if your truck has the pucks in the bed. This one is for the rails which you would have to buy. Most people with short beds get the slider so the trailer wont hit the truck.

Answer:	I'm guessing it will but you might want to ask someone who installs these items for a living.

Answer:	After looking at photos of valley hitch's it seems that they would work but I don't have first hand knowledge of this.

How to select a 5th wheel hitch: What size is the truck bed?

Your truck bed length will determine the type of mounting platform you’ll need for your 5th wheel hitch: legs or a roller. 5th wheel legs are the standard option for mounting a 5th wheel hitch, but they will only fit in a long-bed truck. For short-bed trucks, extra clearance may be needed when making tight turns. A 5th wheel roller will allow the hitch to roll backward, providing enough clearance between the trailer overhang and the truck cab.

Does the truck have an OEM puck system?

If you own a truck from Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Nissan or Ram, your truck bed may be equipped with a puck system (pictured). If your truck has a long bed with the puck system, select a CURT 5th wheel hitch with the appropriate OEM puck system legs. If your truck has a short bed with the puck system, select a CURT 5th wheel hitch with the appropriate OEM puck system roller or roller adapter.

Do you prefer permanent base rails?

If your truck does not have the OEM puck system, you will need to install 5th wheel rails. The traditional method for installing base rails is to use vehicle-specific under-bed brackets. First, select the custom under-bed brackets that fit your specific make and model, as well as a set of industry-standard base rails. Next, if you have a long-bed truck, select a 5th wheel hitch with legs. If you have a short-bed truck, select a 5th wheel hitch with a roller. Remember to always abide by the weight capacity of the lowest-rated towing component.

Another 5th wheel mounting option is a gooseneck hitch. Answer:	This is for Ford equipped with the factory puck system, and they did not make that in 2004, or you would have to buy the under bed mounting system. So no this will not work on your truck

Answer:	My answer is the same as the other folks. It comes with pins to hook it to the bed mounted rails which are purchased separately to fit your bed and style of attachment to that bed. Some bolt to the bed and others use factory mounted puck systems. It depends upon your individual truck and preference.

Answer:	My truck had a Reese fifth wheel rated at 15,000. I unpinned and placed my 24,000 Curt right in the existing rails. No modifications.

Answer:	This is a standard rail kit and can fit hitches to 25K (Possibly Higher). I have a similar set on my Freightliner FL60 that I tow a 36' 5th wheel and a boat behind that. These should work fine for a 20K hitch with the pin tabs that drop through the plate.

Answer:	I haven't seen a weight limit printed, but I have the B&W Companion Slider and it weighs around 300 pounds. I didn't hesitate using it on my hitch. B&W wouldn't put a lightweight lifter on the market.
