Product description

The CURT E16 5th wheel trailer hitch is an economical choice that offers many of the same features found in our Q-Series 5th wheel hitches. The E16 has a gross trailer weight rating of 16,000 lbs. and can withstand a vertical load up to 4,000 lbs. It comes with a dual-pivoting head, 10 degrees of lateral movement and an anti-rattle skid plate to provide a smoother, quieter ride. The E16 also comes with easy, single-handle operation and a durable carbide powder coat for long-lasting protection against the elements. With four height adjustment settings, the E16 is quick and simple to install, and it is backed by a limited lifetime warranty. This 16K 5th wheel hitch head comes attached to the CURT R16 slider. Our 5th wheel sliders mount easily onto a set of 5th wheel rails or a gooseneck adapter already installed in the bed of your pickup truck. CURT 5th wheel sliders feature solid construction and offer a sturdy mounting place for your 5th wheel hitch, ensuring that none of its towing strength is lost. CURT 5th wheel sliders are also true rolling units, meaning they actually roll on wheels that bear the weight of the trailer rather than simply sliding on hollow rods as seen in competitive models. With a thick operating handle, the roller smoothly rolls the 5th wheel head forward and back, locking securely into each position as desired. CURT sliders also provide up to 12" of displacement as well, unlike the more common 10", to give you a wide range of motion and plenty of space to get your RV or other 5th wheel trailer around any turn.

  • DUAL-PIVOT HEAD. This CURT 5th wheel hitch features a dual-pivoting head that provides 10 degrees of lateral movement to promote smooth, stable towing
  • AUTO-LOCK. The coupler of this 5th wheel hitch has an automatic locking feature to make the coupling process easier and more secure
  • ANTI-RATTLE. To help reduce rattling and vibration at the coupling point, this 5th wheel hitch is equipped with an anti-rattle skid plate
  • TESTED SAFETY. This 16K 5th wheel hitch is tested according to SAE J2638 specifications for safety and is rated to tow up to 16,000 lbs. gross trailer weight and 4,000 lbs. vertical load (limited to lowest-rated towing component)
  • VERSATILE FIT. This 5th wheel slider hitch comes with a roller to allow for 12 inches of additional turning clearance with short-bed trucks. It mounts onto any industry-standard 5th wheel hitch rails (rails and brackets sold separately)

User questions & answers

Question: im curious what the second picture is featured with this hitch. it looks like a standard tow hitch receiver. That does not come with this hitch
Answer: AMAZON has been the best place for me. shipping sucks with a heavy package though without it tearing up due to the weight.
Question: I have 2015 ram 2500 short box. Will it fit? Also what else do i need to buy
Answer: yes Curt has different models. This one is 20K PT#16035 kk
Question: lowest 20 k fifth slider, where do i find it i am not savy on these computers
Answer: Yes you can. It fits in both the toilet tank and microwave(best if you take the doors off the hinges). I recommend that you locate your breaker panel before microwaving it so that you can tape the correct breaker open as to ensure that the tools can dry properly. You’re welcome in advance!
Question: do you have this 5th wheel in 20k towing capacity
Answer: The case is the worst part of the whole kit. Either the tools will not go back into the poorly formed holders or they will not hold at all. The first thing I did was to put the tools into a tool box and throw the case away.

CURT E-Series 5th Wheel Hitch

The CURT E-series 5th wheel hitch is designed to provide an economical 5th wheel option for budget-conscious customers. It features a dual-pivoting head with up to 10 degrees of lateral movement to promote comfortable towing. To help provide a quiet ride, the hitch head also has an anti-rattle skid plate and rubber stoppers.

The E-series hitch is available in a 16,000-lb. capacity only. It is compatible with a variety of mounting options, including OEM puck system legs and rollers, industry-standard base rails and the CURT X5 gooseneck adapter.

Pivoting hitch head

To help promote a smooth, stable, quiet ride, the E-series 5th wheel hitch has a dual-axis head that allows for up to 10 degrees of lateral movement, pivoting with the trailer.

Single-handle operation

Operating with just a single handle, the E-series 5th wheel hitch automatically locks, making the coupling process easier and more secure.

Versatile design

The E-series 5th wheel hitch mounts to all industry-standard base rails and has four height adjustment positions, allowing it to adapt to various truck bed wall heights.

How to select a 5th wheel hitch: What size is the truck bed?

Your truck bed length will determine the type of mounting platform you’ll need for your 5th wheel hitch: legs or a roller. 5th wheel legs are the standard option for mounting a 5th wheel hitch, but they will only fit in a long-bed truck. For short-bed trucks, extra clearance may be needed when making tight turns. A 5th wheel roller will allow the hitch to roll backward, providing enough clearance between the trailer overhang and the truck cab.

Does the truck have an OEM puck system?

If you own a truck from Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Nissan or Ram, your truck bed may be equipped with a puck system (pictured). If your truck has a long bed with the puck system, select a CURT 5th wheel hitch with the appropriate OEM puck system legs. If your truck has a short bed with the puck system, select a CURT 5th wheel hitch with the appropriate OEM puck system roller or roller adapter.

Do you prefer permanent base rails?

If your truck does not have the OEM puck system, you will need to install 5th wheel rails. The traditional method for installing base rails is to use vehicle-specific under-bed brackets. First, select the custom under-bed brackets that fit your specific make and model, as well as a set of industry-standard base rails. Next, if you have a long-bed truck, select a 5th wheel hitch with legs. If you have a short-bed truck, select a 5th wheel hitch with a roller. Remember to always abide by the weight capacity of the lowest-rated towing component.

Would you like the option to easily remove the base rails?

Another 5th wheel mounting option is a gooseneck hitch. Using the CURT Double Lock EZr or Double Lock gooseneck and X5 adapter plate allows you to have a removable set of industry-standard 5th wheel base rails. First, select the Double Lock EZr gooseneck hitch kit that fits your specific make and model. Next, select the corresponding X5 adapter plate. Finally, if you have a long-bed truck, select a 5th wheel hitch with legs. If you have a short-bed truck, select a 5th wheel hitch with a roller.

CURT 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter hitches

A CURT 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter is the perfect way to maximize towing functionality on your heavy-duty pickup truck. With a set of 5th wheel rails already installed on your truck, a 5th wheel gooseneck hitch adapter allows you to tow gooseneck trailers.

Heavy-duty towing doesn't need to be a competition: gooseneck hitch vs 5th wheel. With a CURT 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter hitch, you can tow both types of trailers with confidence and convenience.

Maximum functionality

A CURT 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter gives your pickup truck a complete arsenal of towing options, allowing you to quickly and easily switch between a 5th wheel hitch vs gooseneck hitch. This simple but powerful adapter plate eliminates the need for complicated installations and towing equipment overhauls. Just drop it into place whenever needed!

Easy, as-needed installation

Each CURT 5th wheel gooseneck hitch comes with four 5th wheel hitch pins. After dropping the gooseneck hitch adapter into the 5th wheel base rails, the four pins secure the adapter into place and allow for easy removal as needed. Equip your truck for towing a gooseneck trailer, and within minutes, you can switch back again to readily drop in a 5th wheel hitch.

Industry-standard fit

All CURT 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter hitches comes with industry-standard mounting points, allowing the adapter plate to drop perfectly into any set of industry-standard 5th wheel base rails. Each 5th wheel gooseneck hitch also comes with a standard 2-5/16-inch diameter gooseneck ball to couple to a variety of gooseneck trailers.

Heavy-duty towing strength

To accommodate most gooseneck trailers and match the 5th wheel capabilities of most hitches, each CURT 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter is rated for 25,000 pounds gross trailer weight. This supports a wide range of heavy-duty loads and gooseneck trailer styles (limited to lowest-rated towing component, including the pickup truck).

Bent plate 5th wheel adapter

This 5th wheel ball hitch fits all industry-standard 5th wheel hitch rails and features a 3-inch rearward offset for the 2-5/16-inch gooseneck ball. This positions the gooseneck coupling point further back on the truck axle. The gooseneck hitch adapter can be positioned over the rear axle or slightly behind it. This 5th wheel gooseneck hitch also comes with integrated safety chain loops for a safe connection.

Spyder 5th wheel adapter

This 5th wheel gooseneck hitch fits all industry-standard 5th wheel rails, dropping into place with the same simple but powerful 4-pin attachment. The Spyder gooseneck hitch features integrated safety chain loops for hooking up safety chains. The chain loops are spring-loaded for convenient and secure attachment.

X5 5th wheel adapter

For an alternative 5th wheel gooseneck adapter, CURT offers the X5 5th wheel adapter for gooseneck hitch option. These adapter plates work in the exact opposite way as our 5th wheel to gooseneck hitch adapters, dropping into a gooseneck hitch ball hole and providing a set of industry-standard 5th wheel base rails to attach a 5th wheel hitch. These 5th wheel adapters are available for select CURT and competitor gooseneck hitches.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this b&w 5th wheel hitch better than the reese goosebox gen2? i own a duramax with a 6.5ft standard bed
Answer: No. Get the under bed gooseneck hitch / turn over ball specific to your truck. Not really hard to install it by yourself, does take a few hours or it did me. The companion / 5th wheel hitch slides into the hole in bed where the gooseneck ball would go. Release pin thru it and tighten the locking bolt to 60 ft lbs. Takes longer to lift it outta the bed of the trk than to get it ready to remove. Top plate comes off stand, then lift stand out. The stand is much heavier than the top plate but nothing one man can’t handle. Wouldn’t want to carry it very far but from the trk bed to the shop where I store it when not in use is no big deal. I have a plastic bed liner and had to cut strips in it for the frame feet strips to set in the bed corrugations. U don’t have to do that with spray in liner or no liner. I’m very happy with the easy and fast swap from a flat truck bed to gooseneck hitch or 5th wheel hitch & vice versa.
Question: is this rated for 20,000 lbs towing capacity
Answer: Your latch will drop back into place and you tighten the bolt, after you tighten the bolt double check you pull for the goose neck, it won't release because of the pressure put on it from tightening the bolt. After I pulled my fifth wheel couple times I double checked the bolt. good to go.
Question: Does the under bed mounting system come with the hitch
Answer: No. you will need to buy a rail kit. This is an above the rail hitch. The above kit is here: https://www.etrailer.com/Fifth-Wheel/Dodge/Ram+Pickup/2011/C16420-204.html?vehicleid=2011642656Good below hitch with rail kit is here:https://www.etrailer.com/5w-2011_Dodge_Ram+Pickup.htm?style=2500+Series,+8+Foot+Bed&furl=
Question: So I pull the pin and remove the ball and this hitch just drops in and just tighten bolts and good to go
Answer: Not sure where you got 52 pounds. That might be for just the head. Hitch is two pieces Base is heavy and I guess about eighty pounds for base. Two pieces together is well over 100 pounds. I always take my hitch out of truck when returning from trip and I use a rope hoist (7 to 1 ) ratio. Being 77 years old weight is too much to easily lift.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this 5th wheel hitch comes with the pins
Answer: I would think with that short of bed you would need a slider hitch.
Question: Does this hitch come with the brackets and hardware
Answer: There is no installation kit that comes with this, it is hitch and legs only. So you will need to get the rails to fit your truck.
Question: will this fit a 2009 Ram 1500 1/2 ton with a 5foot 7inch bed
Answer: It’s about preference to me. If you are going to use the bed of your truck frequently I would buy the Reese goose box, if not I would save the money and buy the b&w. I have the B&W however if I was on the market for one right now I would buy the goose box.
Question: will this fit in a 94 f-150xlt 4x4 long bed truck need one pretty quick
Answer: Yes, rated for 20,000# and would probably handle more for short trips. I used one commercially for a year and could not be happier with it.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this work on a curt q20 hitch
Answer: I haven't seen a weight limit printed, but I have the B&W Companion Slider and it weighs around 300 pounds. I didn't hesitate using it on my hitch. B&W wouldn't put a lightweight lifter on the market.
Question: How big is the hole in the top
Answer: The head units, that contain the locking jaws, are the same across all of the B&W hitches so it should work.
Question: Is there a hitch weight limit
Answer: That is just the hitch. It will fit into the bedrails of any standard fifth wheel install kit that has standard bed rails. Question: Will it work on a Patriot 18k slider
Answer: It will fit on any pickup that has the matching install kit with in-bed rails. So worry about the install kit with bed rails, not the hitch itself.

PullRite 2400 ISR Series Superlite 20K Fifth Wheel Hitch

PullRite

Based on 40 reviews Check latest price

Product description

We’ve taken the hitch plate, rocker arm and crossmember and combined all three functions into our SuperLite King Pin Adapter. The adapter clamps to the trailer’s king pin and mounts an upside-down ball in place of all three. Then we took a gooseneck coupler, and turned it upside-down and mounted it to a base that fits industry standard rails or PullRite’s totally removable SuperRails featuring Clean Bed Technology (CBT). We’ve added a funnel to the gooseneck coupler so that all you have to do is aim the ball over any part of the funnel to guide the ball into the coupler tube. Because the ball and the coupler funnel are completely visible from the driver’s seat, SuperLite is absolutely the easiest fifth wheel hitch to couple in the industry, and the lightest at only 52 lbs.

  • Easiest fifth wheel hitch to couple in the industry
  • Fits onto industry standard rails or PullRite's SuperRails featuring Clean Bed Technology
  • Ball and the coupler funnel are completely visible from the driver’s seat
  • Weights only 52 lbs.
  • 20,000 GTW capacity

User questions & answers

Question: Is the king pin centered between the bed rails or offset to allow for cab clearance
Answer: Yes I have it installed on 2006 2500hd with a 6.6 ft bed and have not had any problems but always careful if making a tight turn. Actually amazed with the amount of clearance I have turning. Had the superglide(great hitch) but loving the weight of the superlight! Quality product!!!
Question: Anyone use this hitch on a 6'9" bed with the ball adapter forward of the king pin and have any clearance issues at the bed side rails
Answer: Not that I'm aware of. Your gooseneck hitch is designed to work on a surface mounted hitch ball. This hitch sets about 10-12 inches above the bed floor and is set for the ball to be on the trailer, not on the hitch. Also the front end of your trailer would be about 12 inches or so high. Not a safe towing aspect.
Question: Manufacturer says hitch is only design for long bed trucks. Has anyone install this in a short bed truck
Answer: 300 pounds is no problem
Question: Is there a simple adapter for a gooseneck trailer
Answer: Yes it should fit all fifth wheel hitches.

User questions & answers

Question: What size holes do you drill into the bed
Answer: One, on the main bolt
Question: Why when the head tilts to side contacts the base and binds have set to 2nd hole from bottom
Answer: Yes Just bought the head and uprights and used my 16K rails
Question: Does the hitch have any Grease Fittings
Answer: The king pin "recess" is centered between the standard bed rails. I use it with the king pin support tripod.
Question: Are the rails for the 20k hitch compatible with the 16k pro series hitch
Answer: I have the ball forward of the king pin on my Coachman 5er, and 2017 Ram 2500 with the 6' 6" bed. No clearance problems on my bed rails.... but I think it depends on each individuals coach and tow vehicle. Each vehicle presents a different height, and set up depending on pin box setting, and the height of the hitch, which is adjustable, as you know. I have 7" of bed rail clearance on the lowest hitch setting.... unfortunately for me, the nose of my fiver is high, and does not ride level. A problem that I will need to remedy soon. Good luck with the hitch, which I consider a great unit for simplicity of hook-up, and ride.
