Answer:	The part of the cargo rack that slides into the hitch is a 1/8” steel square. The rack is very sturdy. I was impressed with the stability as I loaded 300 lbs of luggage and coolers on the back for our trip to Florida and back to Texas. I would imagine if it was thicker, the rack itself would have been much heavier to lift and place. As is, I was easily able to install and remove it by myself.

Answer:	I agree with the previous answer, it would be too much wait. Yes the 2" tube extends but a 2 inch bike rack will not fit in it. You would have to customize it to 1 11/16" to be able to fit in the end of it.

Answer:	I have mine mounted to the back of a teardrop trailer, so I had a similar concern. I purchased this -- Connor Hitch Extender - High Clearance 2" Dual Hitch Extension (GTW- 4000 lb.) , 1625370 Trailer Hitch Extension. I did modify the cargo carrier so it rode closer to the vehicle by shortening the main tube where it inserted into the extender, and relocated the hole for the pin. I would also anti rattle pins, and clamps as it assures it rides quiet and completely level. Equipped like this it did a great job, on a Maine trip with lots of rough road, off road sections.

Answer:	I threw the box away a couple of years ago after I received the carrier. The assembled outside dimensions are 59.5" x 21" x 6.5". The carrier came in two halves with the receiver tube assembly and connecting plates, bolts, nuts, etc as additional parts. If I recall, the box was about 32-36" x 24" x 9-10". The two basket halves were nested together with the other parts inside the halves. It was good quality packaging and well packed to keep the parts from rubbing.
