12 best 383 stroker crate engine
A 383 stroker crate engine is a high-performance automotive engine that is commonly used in custom and modified vehicles. It falls under the category of automotive parts and accessories. Here are some key details about the 383 stroker crate engine:
Increased Displacement: The term "383 stroker" refers to a modification of a standard Chevrolet small-block V8 engine. It involves increasing the engine's displacement from its original size to 383 cubic inches (hence the name). This is typically achieved by using a larger crankshaft with a longer stroke.
Performance Enhancement: The primary goal of a 383 stroker crate engine is to boost the engine's power and torque output compared to the original stock engine. This is accomplished by increasing the engine's overall displacement, which allows for improved air and fuel flow, resulting in more power.
Custom Builds: 383 stroker crate engines are often used in custom-built or modified vehicles, such as hot rods, muscle cars, and high-performance street machines. These engines are favored by automotive enthusiasts looking for significant power gains.
Crate Engine: A "crate engine" means that the entire engine assembly is built and tested by a manufacturer before being packaged in a crate for sale. This makes it easier for individuals and mechanics to purchase a complete, ready-to-install engine.
Compatibility: While the 383 stroker engine is often based on the Chevrolet small-block V8 design, it can be adapted for use in various vehicle makes and models, provided the necessary modifications and adaptations are made to fit the engine into the vehicle's engine bay.
Aftermarket Support: There is a wide range of aftermarket components and accessories available for 383 stroker engines, allowing enthusiasts to fine-tune and customize their engines for specific performance goals.
Horsepower and Torque: The specific power output of a 383 stroker crate engine can vary depending on factors like compression ratio, cylinder head design, camshaft selection, and fuel delivery. However, it is not uncommon for these engines to produce well over 400 horsepower and a substantial amount of torque.
Installation: Installing a 383 stroker crate engine typically requires knowledge of engine mechanics and may involve modifications to the vehicle's engine bay, exhaust system, and drivetrain to accommodate the increased power and torque.
In summary, a 383 stroker crate engine is a popular choice among automotive enthusiasts seeking to increase the performance of their vehicles. It offers a balance of increased displacement, power, and torque, making it well-suited for custom and high-performance applications in various types of vehicles.

Chevrolet Performance's big-torque SP383 is more powerful than ever. Chevrolet added their revised cylinder heads that incorporate a new, high-rpm valvetrain to help the SP383 produce 435 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque. The new, lightweight aluminum cylinder head casting is based on the proven Fast Burn design. They feature 62cc chamber, 210cc intake runners, 2.00'' hollow stem intake/1.55'' sodium-filled exhaust valves, Blue beehive valve springs, steel retainers, machined steel spring seats and split key locks, D-shaped exhaust ports, dual intake bolt pattern, standard perimeter and center-bolt valve cover bolt patterns, Angled Spark Plugs (5/8" Hex, 3/4" Reach, Tapered Plugs). This engine is remanufactured using the most technically advanced methods - incorporating both CNC machining and DC torque equipment. All components are inspected to assure viability and then verified by Quality Control Personnel. All sub-assemblies and components are both pressure and vacuum tested prior to being installed. Once assembled, state of the art computer controlled pressure testing is performed as a final verification of casting integrity. Final testing is done with our proprietary “ProTester Max” at 600 RPM. If applicable both VVT (Variable Valve Timing) and DOD (Displacement on Demand) units are physically operated and 100% confirmed. Compression, oil pressure, oil flow and four, ninety degree stop and match readings are verified to assure your engine will meet or exceed your expectations. Fluorescent dye within the testing oil is used as a countermeasure to find any possible oil leaks, including the crankshaft rear seal. This state of the art testing far surpasses a “hot fire” engine. Engines come complete with installed oil pan and/or front cover, oil pump, pick up tube and in some cases valve covers and ship with a finishing gasket set. A dressed engine not only gives an OE appearance but saves the installer time and money. We consider it a privilege to provide you with engine assemblies that we remanufacture with PRIDE!
- Each engine we remanufacture is essentially reverse engineered - in part to discover original factory deficiencies. If possible, our seasoned R&D personnel and QC experts make improvements. Why shouldn't our engine last longer than your first?
- Engines come with installation gasket set and oil pump unless noted otherwise. If we have important installation information it will be included on tags or in the paperwork packaged with your engine.
- Engines are securely packaged in a recyclable container that will also protect your core on the return trip. Our nationwide warehouse network means speedy delivery.
- Each engine is remanufactured with quality OE level components not "white" box generic parts that may or may not satisfy your needs and expectations. When you use the best you get the best results and satisfaction.

PROFessional Powertrain
LKQ Corporation (Nasdaq: LKQ), an S&P 500 company, is a leading provider of alternative and specialty parts for automobiles and other vehicles. Years of experience, integrity, and ingenuity are what sets us apart from the rest. We perform both internal and independent testing to evaluate the quality of our parts. We do not procure parts that compromise safety.
Our facilities encompass more than 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space producing hundreds of highest quality remanufactured engines and heads in the industry each day and with over 200,000 square feet of warehouse space we stock in excess of 18,000 engines and heads.
Cylinder Blocks: 100% Linear Vertical Honed
Automatic CNC Control finishes every cylinder to exacting specifications.
Diamond and CBN abrasives are used to produce the high finish required by todays piston ring technology.
Magnetic filtering of coolant maximizes the integrity of surface finish.
Crankshafts: 100% Ground on Stroke and Index
Crankshafts are ground on stroke to assure equalized compression of cylinders for equalized power.
We also grind our crankshafts on index to provide balanced running mates and a smooth running engine.
Cylinder Heads: 3-Angle Valve seats
Using 3-angle cutting for the valve seatings means our engines have optimum sealing for smooth running and maximum vacuum.
By opening and closing smoothly, our engines provide the optimal air/fuel mixture for maximum power and performance.
Interference angles ensure carbon clear out, resulting in a cleaner, more efficient engine.
All Castings 'Magnafluxed'
Magnaflux is a trade mark process qualifying castings via non-destructive Magnetic Particle Testing. By the use of low voltage and high amperage current through a ferrous metal casting any flaw or imperfection will become an area of high conductivity.
When a luminous magnetic solution is sprayed over the casting the particles will collect in the areas of high current density and show the casting flaws and/or cracks under black light conditions. This allows us to repair minor flaws to like-new conditions and reject products that do not meet our strict quality standards.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this bolt right up in a 1990 Silverado |
Answer: | Yes almost identical to your old engine, except this has more lift and duration. You will probably need the computer reflashed for the most performance. Or just get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and turn the pressure up 5 psi. |
Question: | What are the head specs that come with this engine |
Answer: | Yes it will The only difference maybe the location of the oil dip stick That should not have any affect on performance or interfere with any other accessories. |
Question: | will it fit a 1989 350 suburban?FI |
Answer: | Adhesive is on the back, peel off the protective layer and firmly apply to any clean, relatively flat surface. |
Question: | Will this engine fit in a 1979 corvette |
Answer: | I haven't attached mine yet as I am waiting until I have my truck painted, but these appear to have adhesive backing. It looks like you just pull off the plastic covering off the adhesive and stick them on. |
