Answer: You can try that, but I have found using a Schmitz Microtex 90/14 works much better. They are sharper and with multiple layers work much better-no skipped stitches and better penetration. Otherwise, for most sewing I use an 80/12 universal. Just a thought

Answer: Unfortunately, there is no cut and dry answer. It depends upon the sewing machine, the thread, and the material. You might have to experiment. Our guess is that you'll have to use a larger needle (i.e., size 90/14, 100/16) to get through the thick material. Depending upon the actual material, you might have to choose a different point as well.
