Question:	Can you embroider with this machine
Answer:	Even though this machine is not an embroidery machine, you can learn to do beautiful embroidery work on it by learning free motion embroidery. In fact, one of the cool presser feet that comes with this machine is the open toe darning foot, which is a bonus!... People who wish to embroider, use this foot to do so. You Tube has many fine videos that will show you how to do free motion embroidery, on a regular machine, with just an everyday wooden hoop. Just type in free motion embroidery tutorials in the you tube search area, and you will be busy for hours, learning to this method. Enjoy!
Question:	Is this easy to use
Answer:	Depends what you want it for. Simple sewing like clothing or piecing quilt tops should be okay - putting quilts together NO! The throat is not big enough for free motion quilting and it doesn’t do well with bulky material. Your needle will snap, bobbin will have a nervous breakdown and you’ll get error codes that will make you want to pull your hair out when you try to clear them. But if you set on buying this model or the CS6000i here is the skinny - it is easy to use if you stick to the book or YouTube for help and FOLLOW the step by step instructions. It’s a cute machine for newbies but an albatross around experienced quilters necks

Answer:	Because it's a review, some reviews aren't anything more than "it sucks". But for only 150 people out of 2,000 people don't like or understand the machine, that's pretty damn good.

Answer:	This would be a GREAT machine for a beginner. I've sewn for at least 60 yrs and have had machines that cost as much as $2,000, and to me this is the best. I'm an avid believer that one should read the manual first and recommend for you to do this. You will be able to nicely grow into this machine and should have no regrets with the purchase. I love idea that you can sew without using a presser foot, but can control your stitches on the front of the machine. Love to be able to see when the bobbin is getting low, various speeds, even some decorative stitches for you. It's quiet, fun, light weight for taking to classes, or for my motorhome. Answer:	I bought this Juki HZL-G220 specifically for free-motion quilting and I am enjoying it. My biggest disappointment was that when I ordered a box of “Juki” quilting attachment feet, I should have ordered from Sew N Vac Direct in the first place. They are the vendor who sent my Juki machine through Amazon and they are the vendor who answered all my Juki questions, such as whether the walking foot I wanted would match my machine model. If you’re buying any Juki parts for free-motion quilting, as I did, I would recommend SewNVac as the vendor you use (your Amazon order will show “shipped from” so you know the company)....don’t go with an unknown and end up with a handful of attachment feet that aren’t even Juki brand and don’t match the picture. Question:	Does it chime with a 1/4 foot
Answer:	I chose the HZL-G220 because it was a big deal for me to have the built in thread cutting button. I did all the comparisons you are doing and this was the only difference I could tell from the description. It was SO SO worth the extra money to be able to push that scissor button to end my thread line, move my fabric to a new place, and begin a new stitch without pulling everything out, finding the scissors, cutting the threads and restarting every time I came to a new place. Wish I had invested in this years ago - quilting would have been more fun.

Answer:	I have not used or tried the H 5532, but looking on line it looks like the difference is the stitches on each machine. Singer 4432 has basic stitches and Singer 5532 has more, but not too many. The accessories are the same plus the machine runs the same. I have really enjoyed the Singer 4432. I can sew on thick fabrics like denim without hardly thinking about it. If you like more decorative stitches then that one would be the one to go for. The rest is all the same.
Question:	Does this machine (the 4432) have "box feed" or the traditional "arc feed
Answer:	The machine has box feed. Now let me break this down to simple terms.Most sewing machines feed dogs( the part that moves the fabric under the needle) move in an arc. This mean they move up and down pulling the fabric each time they rotate to the top. This does not give constant pressure under the fabric and you can move it wheb the feed dogs are down. This may cause a skipped or uneven stitch. This machine has a box feed. This means the feed dogs do not move up and down in an arc. They move the fabric with a continuous pressure on the fabric. This is important when fabric is thick and when it is very thin. It has an adjustable feed which gives you the choice of the amount of feed or pressure. It also has a pressure adjustment on the foot so that you can choose how hard the pressure foot sets down on the fabric. This gives you the ability to adjust the feed to the fabric. For example when you are sewing the butterfly stitch, you want an even pressure so the chain of butterflies is the same each time. You do not want to feed to fast so the pressure is set lower. If on the other hand you are sewing a lot of straight seams and speed is what you want then set more pressure on foot , and feed dogs all the way up. If it is a curve such as a sleeve where you want to go more slowly so you can feed the material in a circle. the feed at medium set and the pressure medium for the material being used will smoothly stitch the curve. Too fast and you can't turn the material as fast as it is going thru. The result is a overrun or bunching of material. Since the bottom of the fabric feed faster than the top always lay the sleeve on the bottom. When the right speed is set the fabric can be eased into place without pinching..I hope this helps others understand the difference in box and arc.

Answer:	Hello - I generally buy a cotton/poly blend - it is durable and quite easily found. Coates & Clarke is a vey well known brand. It would also help if you knew what kind of projects she might be undertaking...the weight of the thread varies with the task. I just googled "Brand names for sewing Threads"and there were a variety of experts writing on the subject if you want to take the exploration further...Good luck!

Question:	use as a sewing machine
Answer:	I know this is an old question and some of my answers are repeats, but if you are still using this machine and haven't come up with an answer maybe one of the following solutions from my own experience will help you. I love this machine and therefore completed an extensive search for answers to my questions which included: Brother Support (not that helpful), studying the manual carefully & repeatedly, asking sew 'n' vac store employees and lots of Google searches. Here, in no particular order, are advice/solutions that solved my gathering/bunching issue and many other issues. 1. PROPER UPPER THREADING: Regarding threading, let me advise that the thread will jump out of the correct lineup at times so if your stitch changes in a bad way, check that first. Also, I had to use a clip over a piece of foam on the last guide before the needle guide because it popped out constantly, regardless of checking, rechecking and having others check my threading. 2. PROPER BOBBIN THREADING: I am forgetful so actually check the manual each time I thread a bobbin. Improper bobbin threading will really mess you up. 3. CORRECT NEEDLE SIZE & TYPE for specific fabric--VERY IMPORTANT!! Some of this is trial and error. Not all needle/thread guidelines I found applied to my situation. I tried Schmetz--130/705, HaX1 of 15x1--the Brother manual states this as an alternative, but Organ HLX5 (not sold locally) is best. DO NOT use the Schmetz "UNIVERSAL" needles if you are working with a fabric that specifically requires sharp or ball point. The Universal has a slight ball point--not sharp not full ball point. Learned that the hard way. 4. CORRECT THREAD FOR SIZE OF NEEDLE, TYPE OF FABRIC AND EXPECTED END RESULT. (superiorthreads.com is an awesome resource for this and many other sewing, quilting, embroidery questions. They have tons of educational articles and you can email them and receive friendly, personalized assistance for your particular situation. This is not a conflict of interest because Superior does not sell sewing machines and the articles and email support are available even if you don't purchase Amazon does sell a very few Superior products but not many.) Before Superior, I had no idea how many variables were involved in sewing and learned more about thread than I ever wanted to know, but need to know. 5. TENSION--BOTH UPPER TENSION AND BOBBIN TENSION. This is the first machine I have owned that both could be adjusted. Check manual for what correct tension should look like and how to adjust (admittedly the manual is not extremely clear). Bobbin tension is tightened or loosened by a screw at the bottom of bobbin case, and upper thread tension is adjusted by the small knob on the left side midway down. This knob has numbers, but they are essentially useless (even Brother agrees). They are there just to show the concept of righty tighty, lefty loosey--again, trial and error. 6. The LARGE DIAL TO THE RIGHT adjusts the stitch length, NOT the Tension. 7. Always keep the top thread guide pulled to maximum height, and make sure thread is coming out from the correct direction. Thread stands can also help although I have not tried one. Amazon sells these, several kinds. 8. If you use cone spools or slippery thread, you can purchase netting that will keep it from sliding and bunching at the bottom. 9. I have not yet figured out the best setting for the FEED DOG in various situations, but I do adjust it often if feeding seems difficult so far staying mostly within the light green area. Answer:	Yes, there are many feet, including a walking foot. If you want a 1/4 foot with an "edge" on it, you would have to purchase one from the sewing outlet.com ($15.99). I like to sew with the edged 1/4 inch foot. Otherwise, there are many presser feet, including the free motion foot. You can drop the feed dogs to free motion. This is a great quilting machine and has excellent "pin feed," which moves the fabric through like butter. First time threading took longer for me, but after that it was free sailing.If you want to make quilts faster like I do, this is a great machine. I used to quilt with my Bernina, but I like the Brother better. It is more affordable and well made. You should also know that if you use thicker threads (I always use 100% cotton from ConnectingThreads.com), that you will need an 80/12 needle instead of the smaller ones due to the way the machine's tension is set up. Question:	Where does the auxiliary spool pin fit? On the bobbin winder? There's no hole on the top of the housing
Answer:	The location of the Auxiliary spool pin hole, on the Singer Simple model 3232 sewing machine, is indicated in the instruction manual on page 4, number 16. There is a filler cap in this hole that you will need to remove in order to insert the Auxiliary spool pin. The filler cap appears to be just a small round circle. You will see a small hole in the filler cap where you insert a straight pin to pop it out of the machine. Answer:	Yes - This is one of the easiest machines to use. You will get used to the foot pedal very fast to control the speed. I have given several of these machines away as presents. I also keep two of these machines at all times.They get used of leather work, quilting and wearable art such as jackets and shirts. A great machine !!!
Question:	does this machine have foot pedal
Answer:	Yes there is a foot control but it is the Achilles Heel of the machine. I can't control the machine well with this foot pedal as it is so light weight a wind will tip it over....thus you won't get a smooth start on this machine. You press down a hear a hum and then press again and it goes full speed until you lift your foot back off the pedal. Look for another machine, or better yet try one out at a sewing machine dealer to make sure it works smoothly. My machine is going to Goodwill.

Answer:	All top load machines use plastic bobbins except for older early singers with metal bobbin case,there is a magnetic ring attached to the hook center that holds the plastic bobbin case from rattling and to slow its movement, if you use metal bobbins they become held by the magnetic transfer through the bobbin case floor (metal) and limit or restrict bobbin rotation,if you remove the magnet you can use the metal bobbins,however it will be noisey and excelarate wear on the bobbin case
Question:	can this machine sew thru heavy duty canvas or leather
Answer:	I was able to use it to repair the canvas top of my gazebo. In fact, this the primary reason I purchased it. I tried using heavy duty "canvas" rated needles, but was far more successful with smaller standard duty needles even though one of them broke. There were times I had to coax it along when there were like 3 or 4 layers, but once it was going it would just keep on sewing the entire length.
