(2) There are several file types that Silhouette Studio can import. If you have the basic version of Studio you can import STUDIO/STUDIO3 files, GSD/GST and DXF files. The software can also import image file types (JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF and TIF Files) and then trace the image using an auto-trade function to create cut lines. Upgraded version of Studio software can import additional file types. Silhouette Studio Designer edition can import SVG and PDF files. Silhouette Studio Plus can import embroidery file types, such as PES, DST, EXP, JEF, and XXX files. Our Studio Business Edition add the ability to open Adobe Illustrator and CorelDRAW native files, AI, EPS and CDR. (3) No monthly subscription is required to use and operate the Cameo 4. CAMEO 4 with Built In Roll Feeder

The all new CAMEO 4 now features a built in roll feeder. Since select rolled materials (such as vinyl and heat transfer material) have their own backing, they generally do not require a cutting mat and can be fed directly into the Silhouette cutting machine. Question:	How does it match up with the print outs on my paper to accurately cut out what is printed? Or is that not something it can do
Answer:	There are two ways that you can "print and cut". One is by using a special new mat called the PixScan that is available for it, and an app that goes with it on your phone. With that you can cut around anything...it doesn't have to be something you printed from the Silhouette software. It can be a stamped image, or handwriting, or whatever. The other way is by creating the file in Silhouette's Design Studio software and then adding registration marks to your document before printing it. The machine reads these to orient itself on the paper when you feed the paper into the Portrait to cut.
Question:	Can you use 8 1/2" paper even if it only cuts 8" or would you need to trim your paper to
Answer:	I have put 8 1/2 by 11 paper on the mat. You just cannot see all the numbers on the side but you do not have to cut it to 8 inches. Hope this helps. I absolutely love my Silhouette and I still do not even know how to use have of the items yet.

Answer:	Not the software that comes with it. However you can buy Silhouette Connect software for $40 which allows you to cut directly in Adobe Illustrator. Would highly recommend using that program if you know Illustrator.
Question:	What will the Cameo do that the Portrait will not do
Answer:	I had purchased the Portrait, but found I was limited on what I could create since it's width is just 8 inches wide. Most of the paper or vinyl I wanted to use with the Portrait were at least 8 1/2 inches wide. So I bought the Cameo and I'm very happy with it. Other than the width limitation, they both operate the same way.

Answer:	Hi,I don't think the Cameo and the Silhouette are two different machines. I see only references to the Silhouette Cameo. The Silhouette program I have shows only a 12 x 12 mat but I believe you can cut roll vinyl with the machine. The program lets you scroll way past the mat. It goes to 35 inches. I have the fancier Studio Designer version which has side rulers. I see on Amazon there is a 12 by 24 mat available. I also have a Blackcat Cougar and it has a place to set mat size. The Silhouette mats are rather thin. My Blackcat mats are a lot thicker and more forgiving. My Silhouette now lives at our factory and my Blackcat is at my home. I haven't tried a Black cat mat in the Silhouette. I can't resist in telling you I found a way to redo the stick on the mats. I think the sticky on the Silhouette mat is waterbased so it can be cleaned off with soap and water. When it is clean, dry it off and spray a thin layer of Sprayway (name of manuf) No. 82 mist spray adhesive. Spray it outside or wear a mask. Make sure to let it dry as it can be gooey when wet. Amazon sells this spray stuff. I am absolutely thrilled to be able to keep my mats at perfect stickiness. I can easily remove buildup of the spray adhesive with paint thinner.
Question:	How do you avoid thin paper from sticking to this and tearing
Answer:	I bought 2; 1 was kept very sticky for using with vinyl, etc. The other a crafter shared with me--which worked well, but is up to your discretion. I sprayed the mat down w/ Windex, let sit 5 minutes, rinsed it, & let dry thoroughly and it makes it just mildly tacky. Works great with paper and no lint from the other techniques.

Answer:	Just one mat but it lasts for months of cutting. I adore my Silhouette Cameo!
Question:	How do you store you cutting mat? I threw away the blue film that was on it
Answer:	I always keep that mat! But, maybe you could try a piece of parchment paper or get a cheapy plastic placemat from the dollar store to protect the sticky layer of the cutting may.
