13 best embroidery machine softwares
Embroidery machine software is essential for creating intricate and detailed embroidery designs that can be stitched onto fabric. These software programs are used by both hobbyists and professionals in the sewing and arts and crafts industries to digitize and customize embroidery patterns. Here's some information about embroidery machine software:
Design Creation: Embroidery software allows users to create and edit embroidery designs. You can start from scratch or import existing designs and modify them as needed. These programs typically provide a range of tools for drawing shapes, adding text, and manipulating objects.
Digitization: One of the key functions of embroidery software is digitizing artwork or designs. This process involves converting images or drawings into a format that can be stitched by an embroidery machine.Digitization involves setting stitch types, densities, and other parameters to ensure the design looks good when stitched.
File Formats: Embroidery software often supports various file formats, such as .DST, .PES, .EXP, .JEF, and more, depending on the brand and model of your embroidery machine. Compatibility with your machine's format is crucial for successful embroidery.
Lettering and Text: Many embroidery software options offer built-in fonts and lettering tools for adding text to your designs. This feature is handy for personalizing projects with names, monograms, or other text elements.
Editing Tools: Users can edit and customize designs by changing thread colors, resizing elements, repositioning objects, and adjusting stitch settings. The ability to preview the design on-screen before stitching it out is essential for making adjustments.
Stitch Simulations: Embroidery software often provides stitch simulations that allow you to visualize how the design will look when stitched. This helps you identify and fix any issues before actually stitching it out.
Advanced Features: Some software programs offer advanced features like automatic color sorting, appliqué creation, and 3D puff embroidery. These features can be useful for more intricate and specialized projects.
Support for Multiple Hoops: Depending on your embroidery machine's capabilities, the software may support multiple hoop sizes and orientations, allowing you to create larger or more complex designs.
Training and Tutorials: Many embroidery software packages come with training materials and tutorials to help users get started and make the most of the software's features.
Compatibility: Ensure that the embroidery software you choose is compatible with your specific embroidery machine model. Some software is designed to work seamlessly with particular brands and models.
Price Range: The cost of embroidery software can vary widely, from budget-friendly options to more expensive professional-grade programs. Consider your needs and budget when selecting software.
Remember that the choice of embroidery software depends on your specific requirements and the complexity of the projects you plan to undertake. It's essential to research and compare different software options to find the one that best suits your needs and provides the features you require for your embroidery projects.

StitchArtist is a program to create machine embroidery designs from scratch. You start using existing artwork or by ‘drawing with stitches.’ You control the shapes, set the stitch type and properties, and StitchArtist generates stitches for you. When you want to create stitches, that’s what it does. Level 1 is designed for a hobby embroiderer who needs to be able to create stitches without going into debt or spending much computer time. Level 1 offers a limited set of stitch types and, more importantly, properties for those stitches, so that the user can simply ‘create’ without needing to learn many steps. Typical projects for Level 1 are applique designs, running stitch designs and simple filled shapes, backgrounds or unifying elements for design compositions etc.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this program have knockdown capabilities |
Answer: | Talk to the seller. He should know. |
Question: | What is rhe difference between Level 1 and Level |
Answer: | I installed this on a Juki DLN-415. Bolted right up. Removed 3phase clutch type motor. Best option, love the adjustability and the ease of installation. |
Question: | How does this program work with Brother's embroidery machines? Does the machines read the designs from this program |
Answer: | I bought this same motor and yes it does not seem to go at the slowest setting. I built a pulley reducer for my machine and that really helps getting the machine down to a slow speed with lots of torque. Another thing to consider is removing the brake in this servo motor so you are able to hand turn the machine without having to slightly depress the pedal. I think it is a good motor. It just needs the reducing system. |
Question: | What is the difference between stitch artist 1, 2 and 3? I'm very confused as to which one to buy. Thank you |
Answer: | They work together. The speed control puts a given amount of speed / power on deck, but the foot pedal, within reason, transfers power and dictates the speed of your stitch - just like driving a car. However, if you have the knob turned way down you can floor the pedal and nothing is going to happen. Conversely, if you crank the knob up, just touching the pedal will rocket the stitching mechanism into movement. |

Grow with your Skill Level
StitchArtist comes in three levels to suit different skills and needs; you can always purchase upgrades and move to the next level of skill and complexity as you learn.
Level 1 is designed for a hobby embroiderer who needs simple digitizing software able to create stitches without expensive software or complicated, time-consuming tools.
Level 2 is designed for production and skills training for those who would like to create more sophisticated embroidery designs including corporate logos, and offers a wider cross section of tools and stitch types that allow the creation of virtually any design.
Level 3 is meant for those who truly love to create designs or for digitizers working commercially in machine embroidery. It includes advanced tools for shape manipulation, a much wider set of stitch types, and tools that enhance both artistic interpretation and efficiency. SA3 has the most options for input and publishing, making it the choice for stock design creators and professionals.

User questions & answers
Question: | Year software published? want to know how old it is as no reviews. will it work on the brother aventura (model blmav) embroidery/sewing machine |
Answer: | As for Embrilliance Essentials, yes, it will work with your Brother machine. My Brother machine is .PES format, and there are many formats to choose from with this program. Yes, there is a trial version of Embrilliance Essentials available you can use for a period of time, however, the trial period just doesn't allow you to save anything. I'm slowly but surely taking my time and learning to use Embrilliance Essentials. It is a very good program and I'm very happy I purchased it. |
Question: | If my computer crashes will I be able to redownload this software onto a new compatible pc |
Answer: | Yes, 4x4 (100mm x 100xmm) machines usually have a multiple-position hoop available, and those are built into the Essentials software. Splitting is automatic. There are also hoops built-in for Janome GigaHoop and a couple others. For bigger machines and more advanced hoops, you can get Enthusiast. |
Question: | So is this a disc or usb |
Answer: | Embrilliance makes AlphaTricks for that purpose. You will also find many alphabet collections now come in the .BX format which means you can use the lettering by typing in, similar to a built-in font. And you don't need any purchase for that -- Embrilliance let's you run those fonts with the free version. |
Question: | How long does it take to receive code |
Answer: | You can't convert or save files in .art format, so if your Babylock is older and uses only .art files, Embrilliance won't work for you. It works for any other format, though. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have a Baby Lock Accent, 4x4 field, almost 20 yrs old. Have been using the Magic Box Elite, just got a new computer and the Magic Box is outdated. Is this the same as a Magic Box but only does PES format? Will I have to do anything to this brand new computer to make this converter box function |
Answer: | I can only tell you that the designs worked very well through Pe-design 11, on my 4x4 hoop in my old Brother Quattro Innnovis 6000D. I am very satisfied with my purchase. |
Question: | Is the PED-Basic software compatible with the PE500 Brothers embroidery machine |
Answer: | You sure can. You would need to transfer the design(s) you would like to stitch out to a smaller USB thumb drive. The 770 will have trouble reading a large thumb drive like this one. |
Question: | will this work on a brother |
Answer: | Plenty of those in this collection. Not sure why someone mentioned that these were mostly alphabets. Far from it. Just about every category is represented in this collection. Hope this helps |
Question: | i have a new computer and have downloaded my ped basic program but when i try to load paterns to the card it says im not conected and i am what have |
Answer: | Sorry I haven’t started it yet |

Product features
Multiple Hooping
When you want a design too big for your machine, we've got your back.
Embrilliance Enthusiast automatically splits embroidery designs into multiple designs which tile together. Our splitting drastically reduces visible ‘seams’ that occur from manually splitting files. In most cases, the final product is indistinguishable from one created on a larger-field machine.
Multi-position hoops allow you to hoop the fabric once and generate the design by sewing it in multiple sections. However, you can achieve the same by re-hooping multiple times. We call this a “Virtual Hoop" & Enthusiast comes with many hoops and virtual hoops defined.
Aligning multiple sections is accomplished automatically with multi-position hoops, but to make it easier for regular hoops, Enthusiast adds basting stitches!
The Mega Hoop, Plus Hoop, Jumbo Hoop, Dream Hoop, Hoop-It-All, and others are pre-loaded. You can even use regular hoops in a side-by-side arrangement so your sewing field is now wide as it is tall.
Baste Hoop
With Essentials, individually selected embroidery designs can have a basting stitch added automatically. This is useful when you want to add a layer of stabilizer or some other material before the sewing of a design.
With Enthusiast, a basting stitch can be added to the hoop, which allows for a layer of topping stabilizer to be basted in place before any designs are sewn. A typical use of this is to add a layer of water-soluble topping to a towel, which will prevent the terry cloth loops from coming up through the embroidery. It can be hard to hoop a towel, and the topping stabilizer will want to slide around before the stitching happens, so basting it first can make the process easier.
Advanced Thread editor
Beyond the Essentials palette creator, the Embrilliance Enthusiast editor lets you make your own embroidery thread brand charts and even pick colors directly from web pages or PDFs.
The color grabber tool will let you click in any window and pick up whatever color is under the cursor. This is very useful when you are building a thread palette from a document such as a .pdf or a thread manufacturer’s webpage. If you want to adjust the color visually, use the HSV (Hue, Saturation, Value) sliders until you get a color that you like.
Knockdown Stitches
The incredibly useful knockdown stitch tool has been included as an exclusive tool in Enthusiast!
When sewing on terry or any fabric with loops and nap, generally a topping stabilizer is used. These can be helpful, but have a limitation: They do not hold down the nap after the design is stitched and the item is watched, which means outlines can be lost in the surrounding fabric. Using Knockdown Stitches you can create a global underlay for the entire design. The underlay extends a few millimeters past the edge of the design, which helps the overall effect.
Mirroring, Repeats, and Scatter
Set up corner designs to repeat automatically and place them in the extreme corners of your embroidery hoop instantly, or set up a design to repeat with perfect spacing in rows and columns. Scatter reproduces, rotates, and scales your design for a whimsical arrangement!
Carousel Features
Arrange designs in a circle with set spacing repeats and oval shaping! Create design arrangements in the round easily!
- Level 3 includes Level 1 and Level 2 and is designed for someone who either loves to create designs or works commercially in the embroidery field. This level includes advanced items such as Styles, QuickStyles, an Eyelet tool, Carving lines, graphical operators such as Cut, AND, Union, Flatten, Inflate/Deflate, Re-construct and Break. It also allows for the content within the product to be expanded by publishing Motifs and Embossed effects. Additional controls are available to work how you like.
- StitchArtist is not a photo-to-stitch tool, nor is it an autodigitizing program. The results of those are very subjective, and there are plenty of tools to do those in the market. When we find a process that is good enough for us, we’ll produce it. Meantime, straightforward design creation is the focus of this product. If you want to make designs for hobby, cottage industry or professional use, this is for you. If you really want to learn to digitize, this program has been designed for simplicit
- Most users will begin by importing a background image – some artwork that they want to embroider. Then you create ‘objects,’ which are shapes that will be stitched, over the artwork. You decide the shapes, their order and their stitch properties. Those who are familiar with any modern drawing tool will feel comfortable with StitchArtist as it uses a Bezier model of shaping. When assigning stitches to shapes, you have freedom to change your mind at any time; any shape can be made into any type o
- Stitch generation is instant and automatic. There are no mode changes for selection, editing, coloring, moving, sizing, rotating or adjusting properties.
- If you already own StitchArtist Level 1 or Level 2 do not buy this. You can just buy StitchArtist Upgrade Level 1 to Level 3 or StitchArtist Level 2 to Level 3.
User questions & answers
Question: | Es compatible con bordadora tajima |
Answer: | Yes, sewing machines has a light for seeing what you are sewing. |
Question: | Is Essentials included in Level 3 or is it something different |
Answer: | Yes, I do sew pillows for our hospital out of fleece/cotton, it does fine. You need to clean it, to keep the fuzzies out. It’s works out fine for me, so far. |
Question: | Can this use with the Designer Epic from Vikings |
Answer: | I use the thread that comes in little spools, some came with it. I haven’t changed the needle yet, but assume it’s a generic needle. It’s a good machine for small projects. It becomes unthreaded very easily, that’s a pain. Easy to take along. |
Question: | Do you have to buy all levels separately or can I jump straight to level |
Answer: | It comes with everything you need to get started. The foot pedal and power cord are not connected when its shipped, but the outlets are easily distinguished between the two. |
Product features
How do you use StitchArtist?
Most users will begin by importing a background image of a design that they want to embroider. They will then create ‘objects’. These objects are the shapes that will be stitched in the design. Those who are familiar with any modern drawing tool will feel comfortable with StitchArtist as it uses a Bezier model of shaping; even so, StitchArtist also includes a 'spline' drawing mode that makes object creation easy, even for those who have never used drawing software. Shapes can also be imported from True Type fonts for digitizing and alteration.
Once you have created your shapes, you can apply stitch properties to each, and can alter their position and sequence, as well as any of your stitch settings at any time at the click of a button.
Easy Editing and Reworking
Editing outlines is a frequent task when creating designs. StitchArtist helps make this easier and more efficient with the following features:
- Instant and automatic stitch generation for immediate viewing of the results of your edit.
- One mode for selection, editing, coloring, moving, sizing, rotating or adjusting properties.
- Multiple display modes that allow you to see your work in line art, stitches, and 3D preview and alter the visibility of your source art easily, no matter the process or mode you are working in.
- Simulated spline entry makes shape creation easy for users unfamiliar with Bezier making creation easier to teach, while SA allows editing with the precision of Bezier curves on items after they are generated.
Stitch Artist level 3 adds expert tools and advanced shape creation to your StitchArtist suite.
StitchArtist Level 3 includes Level 1 and Level 2 and is designed for those who truly love to create designs and for digitizers working commercially in machine embroidery.
StitchArtist Level 3 includes advanced tools such as Styles, QuickStyles, an Eyelet tool, carving lines, and graphical operators for working with shapes such as Cut, AND, Union, Flatten, Inflate/Deflate, Re-construct and Break.
The properties for each stitch type are fully revealed, and operations for vector support, including export were added to let you draw .svg and files for plotter/cutters directly.
Create and Publish Assets and Designs
Stitch Artist Level 3 allows digitizers to create content for the Embrilliance ecosystem allowing for publishing motifs, embossed effects, and custom object-based embroidery fonts, and allowing for the sharing of stylesheets. Moreover, batch exporting of stitch files makes StitchArtist 3 a perfect choice for stock design creators.
Automatic Branching for easy Sequencing and Pathing
StitchArtist level 3 includes branching of all object types including sub-branches that don’t need to touch to be included in the sequence.

Answer: | I am not for sure if it will fit you PE 535, however, I have a Brother SE625 with a USB thumb drive support and it works great with it. I would assume it would work with your Brother as well. The files on it are format .pes if that helps you any. It also has a true sizer program that helps you resize any of the patterns to what your machine uses (the true sizer will need to be put on your computer where you can see all the patterns and resize them as needed).
