Question:	I have very little space, can you tell me the dimensions of this machine
Answer:	Yes it can. You might want to have embossing folders just for embossing flashing since the metal is heavier than card stock and will leave an edge impression on the embossing folders

Answer:	yes, it is the same height as the sizzix steel rule dies.
Question:	How can I make a custom die for this machine
Answer:	The platforms and large plates are included. I find the small plates very handy however they are purchased separately.
Question:	Do the platforms on this model fold up like the Platinum 6 do
Answer:	It would cut, yes, but it may not be advisable or easy to do. The XL plate is 8.5 wide, but that would be the width of the material you are cutting, not the die. In my experience, you always have to leave 1/2 inch or so of extra material to make sure you don't cut off the edge. There can be some slippage as the material moves through the cutting machine. This can be minimized by taping down the die with washi tape, but it doesn't eliminate it entirely. Its also good to angle the die as it goes through the machine for two reasons. 1st your plate will last longer. The 2nd is that its easier to move the material through the machine especially if you are trying to cut multiple layers. I have read the responses below and my experience is not exactly the same. I think that the experience does vary with the types of materials cut and the brand of die as well as the type of die. Regardless of the care that I do have to take to get good cuts, I really enjoy this produce and have made some very satisfactory cards. Hope this helps.

Answer:	Actually, the small plates come with the Platinum. The small plates for the Sizzix Big Shot also work in the Platinum. You asked about the Grand Calibur plates (pink, blue, grey). They work, but you have to be very careful not to force them through and it's a little tough to get the proper sandwich. If you want the large plates for the Platinum, you have to buy them. Same for the 3D embossing plate. The blue embossing plate (small) for the Platinum starts cracking the minute you use it and it eventually breaks, but you can buy the big blue embossing plate for an exorbitant fee.
Question:	How thick are the a and c plates? wondering if they will work as replacements for my tonic tangerine

Answer:	I do a lot of cutting with dies. These replacement plates are probably the best on the market. They are very sturdy, will bruise a toe if a corner drops, I know that. Mine are extremely full of cut marks, wash the cutting plate with a brush and soap to remove die from a colored paper. These plates are almost warp proof and can be flattened by various methods. I have used mine for approx. 5 years. The "stand" that comes with the plates is not necessary, but they cannot be ordered without the stand, which is useless. These are totally a good buy. Wish Sixxiz made this quality cutting plate.
Question:	The mats that came so not fit inside because of the white platform. Why is this? Can that platform come out
Answer:	No they don't. They are approximately 8" x 12", to fit the Spellbinders' Grand Calibur or other Spellbinders' large size platforms. Besides, the thickness of each plate/set is specific to the Spellbinders machines, and would not match the Cuttlebug's.

Answer:	About 1/4" (approximate). There may be a millimeter difference between the two. I own several machines and often mix and match plates to get the thickness I need. I don't know anything about "tonic tangerine", but if your platform is 8"x12", it might be worth trying.

Answer:	Sometimes the photos sellers post are misleading. This comes with one 8-1/2 x 12" adapter plate. It is likely pictured with the Junior plate to compare sizes.

Answer:	I'm not sure how wide Sizzilets are. This is only about an inch and a half wide. It works very well with the edging dies.

Question:	does the handle turn hard
Answer:	Between 3/8s and 1/4 inch. The grey plate is 3/8s inch. The white plate probably starts out at 3/8s but with use grows to 1/4 inch. Both are usable in a grand calibur machine.
Question:	Can steel dies mounted on wood or acrylic, and single dies be used in this machine? And, does it cut leather and faux leather
Answer:	It's meant to be used with the grand calibur however spellbinders cutting base plates are the best so I bought one and am using it in my cuttin boss machine with my precision plate. So if you can come up with a correct thickness sandwich for whatever die cutting machine you use, it could work. Take into account the size of the plate is meant for a machine that can accommodate larger paper - so if you have a big shot machine it wont work.
Question:	Does this work well with all embossing folders like Darice?I currently have a big shot foldaway and it is completely useless with embossing folders
Answer:	You will need to buy some sort of dirty cutting machine unless your hammering it out.. this machine doesnt fit the large dies only the 2" or less in width.
Question:	Does this item have a magnetic sheet available for keeping dies in place for cutting
Answer:	I have used small spellbinders dies and smaller sue wilson dies, you will have to send it through the machine once or twice for a good cut.

Question:	Can you use another company's plates that are longer than the base of this machine? TIA
Answer:	If you have thick paper, a large die or the work is close to the end, it can be REAL hard. I'm glad I was told this, also the noises it can make. I just finally got up the nerve to use mine last week. I'm having a blast. Don't be afraid - go for it! Also, make sure your sandwich is in the center, not rubbing on either side. As you can tell, I've already encountered some issues. Let me know if you have more questions. Hope I can help.
Question:	Can you use this machine w/Empress die cutting machine
Answer:	The mounted dies cannot be used. Not sure about leather
Question:	Can you use regular dies with this machine
Answer:	It works fine with Darice embossing folders and regular embossing folders from other companies, but I have some of the 3D folders from Stampin' up and there isn't a sandwich that works. I contacted the company and they discontinued the plate that is used for 3D folders, but they did say they were working on a sandwich combination that would work.
Question:	How is this different than Minc
Answer:	I looked and found a magnetic platform on JoAnn’s for ~$25; but, it will not fit the platinum 6 because it’s 6.5 inches wide. Lots of returns due to size issues.

The Glimmer Hot Foil System is easy to use. Just heat the platform & chosen plate, create your foiling sandwich, and then run the platform through your die-cutting machine. Easy to Use

1. Plug in, turn on Machine and wait for it to heat up (ready light indicator will turn green)
2. Place Glimmer Plate on the heating surface. Press Timer button and wait until it turns solid green.
3. Place Glimmer Foil (shiny side facing down) on the hot foil plate.
4. Add desired material and the necessary shims.
5. Remove the whole platform and sandwich and roll it slowly through the spellbinders platinum machine or any other approved die-cutting machines and back.
6. Remove Shims. Place the Platform back in base. Slowly peel foil from material and enjoy the lovely foil finish on your material.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Glimmer Hot Foil System the same as the Go, Press, and Foil Machine?

No, it is a different system. Some of the features that separate the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System from the Go Press and Foil include; Indicator lights on the machine, Power Light Indicator, Platform “Ready” Light indicator (meaning the surface has reached the best temperature for foil transfer), Timer Light Indicator & Timer Power button. The Glimmer Hot Foil System also has Power Cord Storage underneath the machine making it even easier to store.

Can I use my Go, Press, and Foil Machine Hot Foil Stamps with Glimmer?

Yes, you can. You can also use Gemini by Crafter’s Companion Foil Dies. You may need to experiment as to whether an extra shim will be needed when foiling.

Can I use my Couture Creations Foil with the Glimmer Hot Foil System?

Yes, you can. You can also use Foil Quill foils and Gemini Foilpress foils. These are all thermal foils, which means that heat activates the foil to transfer the image onto your substrate.

Can I use any dies with my Glimmer machine?

You can use MANY metal wafer-thin dies (0.8mm thick) with the Glimmer Hot Foil System.

*Please note: that some dies do not translate well to foiling and you will need to experiment.

**Tip: When using dies, you will need to add an extra cardstock shim or two because the dies are slightly thinner than the Glimmer plates.

Do the plates wear out over time?

No, Glimmer Plates do not wear out over time.

What happens if I foiled directly onto my Glimmer plate, Spacer Pad or Thin Shim?

You can remove unwanted foil from a shim, spacer pad, or plate by using a product called “Un-Du” (or similar adhesive remover product) and scraping the foil off with a flat edge. A how-to demonstration is included in our video of common Glimmer questions and tips.
