They are very smooth, not hard at all！The success you have as far as painting with them will depend on your paper of course,and these pencils fill in nicely for different color choices and workability. You can use them wet or dry as both work well. Another thing is they don't change color when activated with water. What you put down is what you will get. Answer:	I did not find company information about what type of pencils these 180 from Shuttle Art brand are considered to be. They are described as soft. I found many other CP's labeled soft are also wax-based, however they quickly combine with water. So, I don't know. I do love these pencils for their vivid colors, wide selection of colors and value.

Question:	My daughter received this as a christmas gift. the case was not wrapped and snapped securely. we do not know how to wrap it up. can anyone show us
Answer:	We purchased this for our daughter for Christmas and no matter how we wrap it up, there still a section of the strap hanging off the end with nothing to attach it to. If you start rolling at the pencil end towards the strap you should be able to snap it on the second snap. I’m not sure if the end snap was meant to be used by carrying it over the shoulder or on a belt, but we couldn’t find any pictures or reviews showing it snapped any other way. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

Answer:	The paper pad included is 5 inches by 7 inches, it is a 1/4 inch thick. The actual case itself measures about 5 3/4 x 10 3/4 inches. I too wanted to figure out what refills could be used. 5 inches is the max width of the elastic bands inside which keep the pad in place. A 5.5 X 7.75 inch book 1/2 inch thick does not fit in the elastic AND does not fit if you don't use the elastic. It is too wide to shut the case and get it zipped. You could fit something up to about 9 inches long, but you would have to keep the max thickness at or below 1/2 inch otherwise you will not be able to close the case since the pencil sharpener will touch the pad - this is why they provide a 7 inch long pad - that way there is clearance at the top for the pencil sharpener. With the pencil sharpener intact you can place something up to about 3/4 inch thick and still be able to zip the set closed. At 1 inch I could not get the case to zip. This was true for 5x7 and for 4x6. I chose this for refills. Will try to update once I have seen them. Question:	Is the sketch pad able to fit inside the zipper case
Answer:	Yes your older computer can use this scanner, because the cable that connects the scanner to the computer has an USB 3.0 Type-A connector which is the part that goes into the computer whilst the other end which is an USB type-C connector goes into the scanner.
Question:	Would this be good for an 8 year old
Answer:	Not without folding, scanning several times and using the software feature provided to "stitch" the images together. I have not tried this so cannot comment on how well it works.
Question:	What weight is the paper
Answer:	I have scanned a fair amount of photos with this scanner and the results are pretty good. It works as well as any scanner. Much depends on the quality of your old photos and how much time you are willing to invest in post scanning touch-up. Please note that the software that comes with the scanner is pretty barebones. It scans and that it is. No touching up, cropping, etc. You will need to get a third-party solution for that.
Question:	Can we get a refund
Answer:	yes, you can scan multiple photos at one time and scanner will separate and give each its own file name.

Question:	Do you need to use baby oil or whatever oil to blend the colors or can I just blend them without the oil
Answer:	Depends on what sort of effect you're after. I blended one picture I did with Gamsol (an odorless paint thinner) after layering and blending several layers of pencils to produce more of a "paint-like" effect. I usually just self-blend them. Some people, especially those used to layering and blending the creamy, wax-based Prismacolor pencils, seem to have difficulty working with the oil-based, somewhat firmer "drier" Polychromos. There is always some sort of learning curve when trying out new types of art materials. Since I never use baby oil to blend anything, I honestly can't even tell you how well they work with Polychromos pencils. I can tell you that personally I find these pencils very easy to layer and blend on their own and they are a pleasure to work with. I suggest that if you haven't worked with these pencils before, that rather than invest into a big sbcet, just buy the smallest set available, or because they are available singly (open stock), you purchase a few of your favorite colors and just experiment with them.
Question:	When using artist-grade Polychromos, is there a noticeable difference from the student-grade Fiber Castell classic pencils
Answer:	The Faber Castell Polychromos Pencils will perform in a very noticeably different way than their classic colored pencils. The Polychromos have a small measure of mineral oil incorporated into the pencil core, which causes the colors to lay more smoothly onto the paper surface, and appear more rich and vibrant. They are easier to layer and blend, without getting a waxy "bloom" or haze developing on the surface. Polychromos Pencils also use pigments with very stable lightfast ratings for greater permanence.

Answer:	Correct. They are not just pastel colors. All of the colors are beautiful. You may vary the shade by varying the amount of pressure. Beautiful pencils. Worth every penny.
Question:	Does anyone know how these compare with Prismacolor Soft core pencils
Answer:	they really don't compare. prismacolors are expensive crayons. polychromos is paint in a hard pencil format. the basic set of 12 polychromos pencils is more versatile than the entire line of prismacolor pencils. I could go on and on about how much better polychromos pencils are, but for less than $20, you owe it to yourself to try them out.

Answer:	No; the ends are colored in the same shade as the lead; however, I found these in exact. I ended up giving these pencils to my grandkids and spent the extra money for a set of Prismacolors. I have seen reviews for other, more economical sets on some of the sites for coloring book fans, though. You might want to do a bit of research before you buy.
Question:	Do they blend nicely
Answer:	Hello, Dear friend Thank you for your question. The size of the sketch book is 8.3x 11.7 (A4). One set includes 2 x 50 Page Drawing Pads and 72 colored pencils in a tin box.

Answer:	No they’re opaque but if colored with lightly you can get some translucent effect as you build up layers. These are very nice pencils to work with.

Answer:	These pencils are black; they are different thicknesses. They can sharpen pencils with a normal pencil sharpener.
