Answer:	I would think so. I used it for thicker, glossy wine region maps and put two in a sleeve so they would be back to back. Not totally familiar with weight of watercolor paper, but this would easily fit heavy cardstock.

Answer:	Hi - for me so far, it latches and stays latched fine without it being locked-it's not a hair-trigger at all. The caveat would be that there is some possibility of accidentally brushing against the latch (it's a pry-type from its top) and causing it to open. I never lock mine, but it doesn't "move around" a lot either. Hope this was helpful.

Answer:	The top unscrews to open. In order to expand, you must remove one side of the strap. The tube will then slide and you turn to lock it at that position. Works great!

Answer:	I used #12x1/2", but removed this after one year as the rubber ends disintegrated and fell off. It's great in theory, but not in practice.

Answer:	Crayola twistable colored pencils do fits in this case. I personally have half of it with prismacolor colored pencils and then I have the rest Crayola twistables. The twistables fit a little tighter than the color pencils but it works perfect.
