| Answer: | I believe the kit includes a gripper pad, which is a thin rubbery thing that you use to get a non-slip grip on the needle. Not positive because I keep a bunch of those on hand. BE VERY SURE to grip the metal base of the tip, not the wood!!!!!! Putting too much torque on the wood can cause it to come out of the base. This is not a design flaw of Knitter's Pride, it's true of all the wood, bamboo, plastic, resin, etc. needle tips, regardless of brand. If there's no rubber pad in your kit, you can find substitutes in a variety of places. The rubber fingers that secretaries sometimes use for sorting papers, larger rubbery circles used for opening jars. adhesive bandage (the part against your skin works better than the part with the gauze pad under it), "needle grippers", sold in quilt shops and embroidery stores. Anyway, with the "pin" in the hole of the cable and the base of the needle tip held with the rubber, you can get a nice, solid-tight attachment. You don't have to screw it in with all your might, just need it to be tighter than finger-tight. |
