User questions & answers
Question: | Does anyone know how long these scissors are? Listing indicates 8" but product dimensions indicate 10"? Thank you |
Answer: | The blades are 8 inches. Thank you. |
Question: | Are they made in the U.S.A |
Answer: | CHINA! I just zoomed in on the back of the package and 2 lines below the apps it is written where its made. Fiskars will have to move to the USA before I'll buy it. |
Question: | Before I order the sissors I wanted to make sure they are electric, battery operated sissors. I do not see this information stated anywhere |
Answer: | They are not electric or battery operated scissors. I have arthritis in my hands and these are easy to use, but operate just like regular scissors. |
Question: | Can these be used by a left handed person |
Answer: | In order to be true "left-handed" scissors, they would need to attach the blades in the opposite configuration, with the top blade facing in so you can see the line you're cutting. These are technically right-handed scissors because when you are cutting with your right hand, the top blade will be facing inward. If you use them left-handed, the top blade will be facing away from your line of sight. It is actually hard to find true left-handed scissors so most left-handed people either use these "ambidextrous" scissors or just make do with traditional right-handed scissors. If you want true left-handed scissors, Red Dot makes high quality ones, but they cost a bit more than regular scissors. I think they're worth the extra cost. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I noticed the tips make good contact but there is a large gap between the two cutting edges on the rest of the blades. Is this normal for this item |
Answer: | The gap between mine is approx. .004" down the main part of the blade, but I don't have any feeler gages at home to actually check it. A typical human HEAD hair is usually .0035" to .004" if that's any reference to the size of the gap in yours. I have never had any problem with these though they work awesome and hold up really well. If anything they left the gap there to make sure the precision tip DID make contact. Extremely clean cut no tearing even using a 10x loupe. |
Question: | are these good for rag quilt snipping? my hand is killing me from using scissors |
Answer: | I just completed my first rag quilt. I ordered these scissors specifically for that purpose. I returned them. They would not cut through the multiple layers. Fortunately I also have a new pair of Fiskars titanium 10" scissors that have spring action blades. Those worked fine. |
Question: | Would these be good for use on cutting intricate stencils |
Answer: | These would be excellent for cutting intricate stencils. They are light weight, super sharp which allows for accurate cutting. I LOVE THEM! I have been sewing and doing hand crafts for over 40 years and these are the best scissors for detail work I have ever found. |
Question: | My Quality Control dept. does a lot of fabric "snipping", can these be sharpened once they start to dull |
Answer: | I have sharpened mine, and those of the women who work in the quilt shop, by cutting aluminum foil or fine sandpaper. They do cut a lot of fabric before they need to be sharpened however. :-) |

Answer: | Yes! Excellent for cutting hair. No gapping, jams, pinching, etc. nice clean cut with smooth ends. |
Question: | What is the difference between these & "original orange" Fiskars |
Answer: | Original Fiskars were mostly used for cutting cloth and sat flat on the bottom of a table or floor. These are for less specific use so you don’t have a flat handle. |
Question: | If I pick all 3 color batch, will they all be the 3 colors shown? or just all grey |
Answer: | I don't know about all the packages they send out, but mine had 3 different colors: blue, rose, and green. |
Question: | Did anyone actually get the 3 different colors, or are they always all gray |
Answer: | Yup. Gray. Wish I would have read this first. False advertising. |

User questions & answers
Question: | i am a man with an average sized hand. Will this scissor fit me |
Answer: | Plenty of room for thumbs of most sizes. If you’re comfortable using 2 fingers in the larger opening you’re also good. I’m a fairly small woman & 3 fingers just fit comfortably in the larger opening. Great scissors though. |
Question: | Do these come with a nice plastic sheath like the kitchen shears |
Answer: | No it doesn’t. I’m sure that any product that comes with a sheath would say it in the description. I’m sure if you type in scissors with sheath, you’d find something. Good luck! |
Question: | Would these be hard to open for someone with a hand problem? Would it require much strength to separate the blades |
Answer: | I am 78 yrs old and don't have a lot of strength in my hands. I use these scissors all the time with no problem. They are nice and sharp and cut very well. If they are too tight you can just loosen the screw. I have used Fiskars for years. When they get dull I just order another pair, They are reasonable. Hope this is helpful. |
Question: | Where are they made |
Answer: | Don, you want Fiskars 01-005437. They're made in Finland. I bought these a year ago or so and plan to buy several for gifts this year. These are the ones! |

User questions & answers
Question: | I bought a pair of these (Fiskars 175800-1002 & they are sharp & work well. But they are very stiff. Any suggestion on how to loosen them up |
Answer: | Check the blades themselves. Are they sticky? Could add a little Vaseline or baby oil in the middle joint. I've been using fiskars for over 45 years teaching art. I've had a lot of different versions, but never this problem. I've never had a problem with them, only with other brands. You could also try loosening the screw, but I will return them to Fiskars regardless. When you buy their product, they should work from the get-go. Either contact your original so or make a complaint to Amazon. I have a large collection of scissors, some for paper, some for wire and some for fabric. Try getting your money back. |
Question: | Can these cut paracord |
Answer: | Personally, I would not do it with my Fiskars razor edge scissors because they are reserved for fabric only. If you already own them, go ahead and try it with them. However, Tandy and Fiskars both make scissors made to cut materials such as paracord. Also, Fiskars makes an 8" Amplify Razor's Edge shears for about the same price. They will cut a wide variety of materials. All of these scissors are available throiugh Amazon. |
Question: | How do these compare to Gingher scissors of the same size? I am looking for something that cut fabric, but with a smaller point/tip |
Answer: | The point on the Friskars, is smaller than the point on the Gingher scissors. |
Question: | What is the country of manufacture? (I do not want to buy Made in China |
Answer: | The Fiskars 8 Inch Heritage Seamstress Scissors are still made in Finland. They're the ones you would need to get if you want non-Chinese.Be aware thought that the metal blade's "tang" does not extend all thew ay through the handle so if you put too much pressure on the handles, they can snap.A good alternative to this would be to simply buy all metal shears such as the Italian made Gingher 8-Inch Knife Edge Dressmaker's Shears. |

User questions & answers
Question: | can this scissor be resharpened by the fiskar sharpener without ruining the titanium finish |
Answer: | I doubt it. They do seem to stay quite sharp, though. |
Question: | What’s the difference between these and duck tape scissors |
Answer: | These are usually for cutting material for sewing but I am sure they would cut duct tape. I didn't know there were special ones for that |
Question: | Can these be comfortably used by a left-handed person |
Answer: | I just received these scissors. I am left-handed and do not find them designed to fit my left hand. The handles are beveled to fit a right hand specifically. If you are only going to use this product for the occasional snip, it's probably all right. Any prolonged use with the left hand will leave dents on the thumb. |
Question: | Boy, does the cutting surface have a flat (wide) edge? Can I use to trim cockatiel's wings |
Answer: | I would get kitchen shearers for something like that. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there an easy action sissors for multi-purpose or for kitchen usage |
Answer: | My favorite kitchen shears are the OXO Good Grips that you can separate for thorough cleaning because I use them to cut up/remove fat from poultry and other meat. I also use mine to open chip bags, etc. Mine was bought locally but found this on Amazon that looks just like mine. https://www.amazon.com/OXO-Grips-Multi-Purpose-Kitchen-Scissors/dp/B01CH56Y00/ref=sr_1_10?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpvSD9unM5gIVBb7ACh3INwgdEAAYASAAEgJ0WvD_BwE&hvadid=323143139233&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=1016584&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=b&hvrand=815867693963283145&hvtargid=kwd-620614204028&hydadcr=3405_9786110&keywords=kitchen+scissors+oxo+good+grips&qid=1577140496&sr=8-10 |
Question: | need a spring for the 8" scissors |
Answer: | I went on the Fiskars website and found a FAQ about replacement springs. All you have to do is call their Customer Service number: 866-348-5661. I believe they provide it at no cost for the spring. |
Question: | How long are the actual blades |
Answer: | I have the Fiskars 10-1/2 inch scissors and on the 10-1/2 inch pair the actual blades are 3=1/2". Hope this helps. Not sure about the 8 inch pair. |
Question: | has the locking mechanism been changed |
Answer: | Yes. It is now on the side instead of being a "U" shaped mechanism folded over the blades. The old ones were engaged/disengaged with the thumb on the top of the blades. The new one is located on the side and is not distorted - leading to failure to lock - like the old ones were. |

Question: | Where are these made |
Answer: | Not sure, but I have to assume USA. On the scissors below Fiskars it reads U.S.A. |
Question: | how wide are these scissors |
Answer: | I'll try and answer this. If the scissors are closed the scissors are about 2 and 1/4 inches wide at the finger inserts. At the widest part of the blade closed the width would be 3/4 of an inch. If I open the scissors the width at the widest point from blade to blade would be about 2 and a 1/2 inches. Hope this helps. Let me know if I can help with anything else. |
Question: | Can you cut hair with these scissors |
Answer: | Yes, but I wouldn't because of the extremely sharp point, which could easily cut skin. |
Question: | What is the overall length, please |
Answer: | overall length is 5" and blade is 2". |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will these last a while? I have Fiskars original and after cutting a lot of suckers the blades just aren't as sharp after only 2 months |
Answer: | I have had these tiny Fiskars for at least 5 years and they are still plenty sharp. You might consider contacting Fiskars as they stand behind their products, having replaced some loppers I bought awhile back. |
Question: | Can I use these to cut candle wicks |
Answer: | Why not, they are really sharp. |
Question: | Is the non-stick coating worth the extra cost |
Answer: | I find the non-stick coating on the cutting blades very helpful as this means they do not need as much cleaning as other pruning snips / cutters that I have used. I think the coating helps to keep it sharp. Whether it is the coating or the metal they used to make the blades, this snip is very, very sharp and cuts cleanly. I find it very useful for more refined work such as snipping leaves, ornamental grasses, soft plant stems, etc. which secateurs have a tough job handling because they are too big for the job or do not cut as cleanly. The only problem I have is the blades keep locking shut together when I grip /hold the handles too close to the orange lock while using the snip. But it does not feel natural to grip / hold the handles near their ends further away from the orange lock because of the shape of the handles - could have been more ergonomically designed. |
Question: | where is it made? Somewhere in Europe or China |
Answer: | These are made in China. I wish Amazon had a policy about listing where things were made. Had I known, I would have bought something else. |

Question: | Need left handed scissors for. 12 years old and up do you carry them |

Question: | How come this is offered for Prime shipping but takes 1-2 months?? Is this a typo? Is is 1-2 days |
Answer: | These are very popular scissors and are sometimes out of stock. My order came in a short time ...maybe not two days but not much longer. |
Question: | How are these packaged? Got a set like this and they were in a beautiful box, great for a wedding gift |
Answer: | Definitely did not arrive in a gift box! The are packaged in a plastic clam pack, much like what is hanging from a hook in an aisle at JoAnn Fabrics. |

Question: | Do you combine shipping? I am interested in six or eight pair of these |
Answer: | The best way to serve you and provide options to combine shipping will be for you to call the CPO Outlets Sales Department at 866-577-3014. We look forward to assisting you. |
Question: | Can they cut multi layers of fabric |
Answer: | I use them to open boxes and mail items as they come apart for this. I don't think they would be very good cutting multple layers of fabric. They are more 5 in 1 use than good scissors. |
Question: | in question 3 you state that the blades are made from Titanium, if that were true, these would cost $300-350, what are the blades made of |
Answer: | I love the Cuts+More Scissors which are phenomenal, but do not buy the "titanium coated" ones, but that's all they make now. I have had issues with the new black blade being bent, I feel that is due to the heat treatment that needs to be applied for the titanium coating and that bends the blade, to me that is a quality control issue. The black Titanium coated blade is just hype so they can jack the price up. I called Fiskars and made them aware of their design and engineering issues with their products. |
Question: | Do they cut through blister packaging (that annoying, curvy, super-sealed, clear plastic packaging that EVERYTHING comes in these days |
Answer: | They would.. but not for forever. I used them for ribbon and was my biggest disappointment. They dulled very quick. Even though they come with a sharpener, it didn't work well for me. You have to know what your doing to sharpen them. Also, the thicker the stuff your trying to cut, the easier the scissors pull apart. Another VERY annoying thing with these scissors. They come apart for other uses, but seem to plop apart on their own whenever. |
