Answer:	I thought it was real wood, but I just got up to it to feel it to see if it was oak or something smoother like maple, and I see now that it is not wood, but some type of heavy duty plastic. It honestly looks like real wood, exactly the color in the picture. You would have to get right up to it and touch it to know it's not wood. Well, no matter to me. It is silent and runs great. I really like it and am glad we bought it. Hope that helps.
