User questions & answers

Question: Received a product by Americana, not DecoArt. Product pictured says "non-yellowing" on the jar. Product I received does not. Is it the same product
Answer: Hi Annie, Does the jar say Triple Thick on it? Americana makes Deco art, it confuses me too, but my jars of Triple Thick all look just like this jar to the left. Where it says Decoart in the black bar under the title. It probably is non yellowing but I'm not sure if that's the same product. If you're on Facebook you can go to DecoArt Inc. and they'll respond to you pretty quickly! Hope that helps. Pattiauthor "Upcycle with Decoupage"
Question: Is the cleanup with this simply water? Can you reuse your brushes after using them w/this product? How long does it take to dry? Is this waterproof
Answer: The brushes are easily cleaned with water and dish washing liquid.I used the same brushes that I have used to varnish and base coat item.I don't know about the waterproof. It is a bit hard to apply as it is very thick however, does not leave brush marks
Question: Does anyone dip their piece in the jar and let it drip dry
Answer: I've been told to thin it down very little let it dry between coats and do two coats, sounds like it would make the product go farther.
Question: The instructions say to use an acrylic brush... Are there any affects if I use a natural bristle brush
Answer: If your brush is not shedding, you can use anything, and I actually prefer natural bristle with Triple Thick. Triple Thick is self-leveling, so you don't have streaks. I love this stuff and have used it for years. I've used foam brushes, natural brushes, and synthetic brushes, all with great results. Be sure you use a brush dedicated to Triple Thick, and you can use it over and over again. My brush of choice is a for smallish jobs is a natural hair filbert. You might need small or larger, depending upon the job. They probably recommend acrylic because it is a little easier to clean. When you are finished, soak your brush overnight in a mug of water before trying to clean it. Then, rinse all the Triple Thick you can under a running faucet, use a little liquid soap and work it well into the bristles including as close to the ferrule as possible, rinse thoroughly, shake or wipe dry, and reform the bristles with your fingers. As soon as it is dry, it's ready to be used again. Hope this helps. Warning: I live in the south and find that if I use Triple Thick in very hot or humid weather, it takes forever to dry and harden. I limit my use of it during the hottest months. Don't forget to cover your project while it is drying - a cardboard box works fine - to keep the finish smooth and free from small flying insects, dust, and anything else that may be airborne.

User questions & answers

Question: Can i hem pants that are too long? Do i need to press sfter i glue. They are coruroy. 2 pairs
Answer: Yes, you can use this for hemming. If you have any further inquiries, please contact Aleene's at [email protected] or call 1-800-438-6226.
Question: Does this work on stretch velvet
Answer: This will not work on velvet. If you have any further inquiries, please contact Aleene's at [email protected] or call 1-888-345-0764.
Question: I've used fabric glues that get very thin if not used for a week or two. Is this a problem with this product
Answer: No, this should not occur with this product. If you have any further inquiries, please contact Aleene's at [email protected] or call 1-888-345-0764.
Question: How much area will one bottle 8oz cover? I want to replace the headliner in my truck which has an area of approximately 12 square feet
Answer: Just a guesstimate, but I think 1 to 2 bottles would suffice. A thin straight bead along the edges and a thin zig zag pattern (don't go overboard) throughout the remainder should do the trick. Don't think you have to have every inch of the surface to be covered. After drying it "should have a uniform effect" I've only used this product on a small area, but I've done similar repairs with other adhesives (not fabric) and it does the trick.

User questions & answers

Question: can this be used to reattach pick n pluck foam and stays flexible
Answer: Sorry. I don't know what pick n pluck foam is. I use this glue when I'm working on dollhouses and other miniatures. The "Always Ready" Aleene's is the regular Aleene's that crafters have used for years; it's just packaged in a bottle that sits "upside down" so that the glue is always ready to be squeezed out. Think of Heinz Ketchup where you can buy "right side up" bottles or "upside down" bottles, but both bottles have the same ketchup in them. As far as flexible, Aleene's dries permanently and it's not flexible when dry. Hope this helps!
Question: Is this glue acid free
Answer: This is not considered acid free. If you have any further inquiries, please contact Aleene's at [email protected] or call 1-800-438-6226.
Question: I am considering this for card making. Will it warp/wrinkle paper? Thank you
Answer: I prefer Scotch Strong Precise Glue because it is a little thinner and has a smaller tip, but ordered this because I couldn't find Scotch at a reasonable price. Tacky Glue is a little thicker and and the tip is bigger, but it still works with paper if you spread it out. It you just squirt it out to stick paper together it can warp or wrinkle some of the thinner paper. Card stock works nicely. It is workable if you watch the quantity you use. Hope this helps.
Question: Would this be good for gluing felt on felt? I'm using it for a costume. Thank you
Answer: i'm sure it would stick, just not sure how it would hold. i would say using a hot glue gun instead. but then again doesn't hurt to try.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it dry clear? I want to fix snake leather tear on the shoe. Will it stay? If not, any other products to suggest
Answer: It depends, on dark fabric it does not dry clear. I am not sure if it will fix a snake leather tear in a shoe - not sure if it would be be tough enough and flexible enough for that application.
Question: Assuming the the top is closed properly, does it dry out if used infrequently
Answer: We bought a set of this after seeing a commercial about it a couple years ago - it was a three pack, I think. I large, medium, and small one. We bought it as a "just in case" item and I have rarely had to use it - it works wonderfully. It's tricky though - and seeps through fabric so I would apply with a quick, light touch. It dries fast, too - a bit too fast for my. Anyway/// I hadn't used it in a while, but last year I needed to use it a couple of times on some fabric I was crafting with. The first time I tried to use it - nothing came out. I shook the bottle, but heard little movement and when I opened the cap I was disappointed to see that it had dried up - there was a thick skin inside. I thought I might go ahead and just use the bottle for something else so started to pull the thick, strong skin out and realized there was still some liquid on the inside (as it splashed on my hands while I was pulling at the glue skin). Once I was able to wiggle the dried skin out - there was some glue in the bottle and it was usable. After that I closed the cap and put it back on the shelf. The second time I needed it again - months later - the same thing - there was a glue skin covering the inside of the bottle that I had to remove and then there was some fluid glue on the inside that I could use normally. I was disappointed about that thick skin developing each time. I'm not sure how much of the glue is hardening each time, but it's enough to know I probably am losing a lot of this expensive glue just because it's drying in the bottle. I'm afraid to go look into the LARGE and MEDIUM UNUSED bottles that have just been on the shelf! Again, the product works a dream once you figure out how to handle it. Shame that it skins in the bottle though - hoping I didn't waste a ton of money. This may be something bought one small bottle at a time, on sale - unless you have a definite need for it.
Question: Will it work to repair Muck boots
Answer: I think it depends on what parts of the muck boot. This product is primarily intended for adhering porous and semi-porous materials together, like fabric and leather. I really question its strength with smooth plastics, especially under stress.
Question: would it work well for putting a woven sports patch on a jacket
Answer: Yes, I think so if the jacket is cloth and not vinyl or leather. It works well if it can "grab" something to adhere to and it "grabs" cloth well. Remember, though, that it may slightly discolor fabric so keep the TM under the patch and don't allow it to bleed out from under it. Use a small amount at first and add to it if you need more.

  • Add an antique finish or use on raw or painted wood pieces
  • This package contains one 8oz jar of decor creme wax

User questions & answers

Question: Is the wax necessary for artminds chal paint? what if i don't use it
Answer: Chalk paint has no sealer to it, so any moisture that comes in contact with it will damage finish. The wax is the quickest and easiest way to seal finish.
Question: Is this product non-toxic
Answer: I wouldn't slather it on a piece of toast and serve it for breakfast. Nor would I use it on babies teething rings or chew toys for pets, yours or anyone else's. However, if you are asking if babies or pets, or unstable adults, chew on the table leg you used it on, I'd be as concerned about the wood chips, stain and/or paint as I would the wax. If any of the above (babies, pets, unstable adults) decide to eat it straight out of the jar, best call poison control to be on the safe side. Oh, add teenagers to that list. After all, they did think it would be cool to eat Tide pods.
Question: Does this have an odor? is it no voc
Answer: Their is very little odor. Don't know what "voc" means.
Question: is this used as wax resist in glazing pottery
Answer: This wax is for protecting and sealing a chalk painted piece of furniture. I don't know if it can be used for pottery but I would guess no. It has the consistency of a thin pudding. It is not thick like candle wax.

After you squeeze the glue on the fabric, wait patiently for the glue to dry.

Please do not open the fabric to check the bonding effect before drying, otherwise the glue will evaporate in the air and fail.
