Question: | Is this 100% n-heptane |
Answer: | Why does the SDS say 40% n-Heptane? OK I checked the wiki: "Heptane is commercially available as mixed isomers for use in paints and coatings, as the rubber cement solvent Bestine..." The remaining 60% are the isomers of heptane. |

Question: | I need to remove a digital print from a 100pt chipboard mount and replace it with an updated print. Will it damage the chipboard, or leave a smell |
Answer: | Yes this may be shipped to a residential address |
Question: | Will it remove Elmer's glue caulk |
Answer: | Yes this is 100% heptane |
Question: | Will it remove a small amount of an envelope stuck to a photograph |
Answer: | Bestine will thin rubber cement. As the rubber cement thins, I believe it will soak further into the fabric. Do not use bestine. To get rubber cement up from the fabric I would try to roll it out. A little rubber cement rolled off the fabric, will roll into a ball of rubber cement. Rubber cement sticks to rubber cement. Use the little ball of rubber cement, dabbed onto the rubber cement on the fabric, to pull the rubber cement off the fabric. |
Question: | will it remove 3m 45 spray adhesive from photo |
Answer: | I believe that polyurethane is a plastic, so Bestine will not dissolve or craze it. However, if the ooze is pine tar (more likely since the polyurethane will set up in a day or two), it should loosen it and let you wipe it off. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Could this be used in a ultrasonic cleaner |
Answer: | I have used 4 cans of it over the years and have never had an odor. I used it to take off tape don’t know about digital prints. |
Question: | Does this strip the camo print from shotguns |
Answer: | No, it only works on organic contact or heat set adhesives. Elmer's is a water based adhesive sealer. I have no knowledge of an adhesive for that. |
Question: | Could this be used in a ultrasonic cleaner |
Answer: | Yes, but you know that you must be very careful with photos. Saturate it beforehand with a lot of this product. It dries fast so keep it wet for a few minutes. Then gently try pulling the piece off of the picture. We use this product everyday in the frame and art business. It's a very trusted product. |
Question: | Can this be used in ultrasonic cleaners |
Answer: | Yes! The Unstik only dissolves the adhesive, and does not harm the photo. Careful though, if there is a lot of adhesive, the unstik can soften it and push it around like a wad of jelly, and the rubbing action can polish the surface of the photo so the cleaned area looks buffed compared to the surrounding areas. It’s a characteristic of spray adhesives, and not the fault of the Unstik! Be gentile with the rubbing! |

Answer: | I do not believe so. |
Question: | Is thinning necessary when using an airless sprayer |
Answer: | I don't think it's strong enough to take paint off. It's supposed to just clean. Although I have not used it on a shotgun with camo. |
Question: | What Chemical is this |
Answer: | No! You use laundry liquid soap in ultrasonic cleaner. It is the exact same as the product Hornady and other companies sell. |
Question: | Where would i find the sds sheet for this product |
Answer: | Yes it can, just keep a few things in mind. 1. DO NOT dilute with water. 2. DO NOT use heating element. 3. Cover sonic cleaner when not in use. |

Product description
Is it really safe for most surfaces? We always recommend testing a safe spot first, but yes, in our years’ of experience, we have had near universal success.
Can it remove heavy adhesives like duct tape, electrical tape or bumper stickers?Absolutely! We recommend pouring some Doc Edington’s into a spray bottle and using a Scotty Peeler or plastic razor blade. Spray the edge of the tape generously, then begin sliding your blade under the tape until you meet resistance. Spray it again and keep pushing forward. Best to keep the material wet with a constant stream. After the tape is all the way off, spray some Doc Edington’s on a rag and wipe away any remaining residue.
Can I use it on book covers?Definitely! Many book flippers and used book stores use Doc Edington’s to improve their value of their books. When you spray it on, it will look like it has soaked into the dust cover, but give it time and it will evaporate away, leaving a clean, new-looking surface. It makes life so much easier.
Does it remove store labels?Of course! Even the most stubborn of store labels will be no match for Doc Edington’s and a good Scotty Peeler/plastic razor blade (compare to Bestine).
How much is in each bottle? Each order comes with one 32 ounce (1 quart, 946ml, 1/4 gallon) bottle of Doc Edington’s Heptane-Based Rubber Cement Thinner & Solvent.
30-Day Free Returns & Satisfaction Guaranteed! If you aren’t completely satisfied with your order, simply reach out to us through the Amazon messaging service and we will respond within 24 hours to make it right even on the weekends. We absolutely guarantee your satisfaction or your money back!
- AMAZING FOR STICKER REMOVAL. Unlike some adhesive removers that take a long time to work and leave a nasty residue, Doc Edington’s works fast and requires no extra clean up.
- SAFE FOR NEARLY ALL SURFACES! Feel free to soak cardboard or paper with it to get stubborn stickers off - it will simply evaporate away like rubbing alcohol, leaving no residue!
- EXCELLENT RUBBER CEMENT THINNER. If you’re into activities like stamp collecting, architectural & drafting drawing, or scrapbooking.
- DOESN’T STAIN OR DISCOLOR. Doc Edington’s classic formula simply evaporates away as if it was never there, leaving your surface good to go. Safe for even books and other fragile items.
- SATISFACTION GUARANTEED OR YOUR MONEY BACK. If you’re not completely happy with your order, just send us an email and we promise to make it right.
User questions & answers
Question: | Is it safe for car paint |
Answer: | It's fine, not too strong of a smell |
Question: | Will it remove dried glue from carpet |
Answer: | We have used it in a washer that had Agitene in it with good results. |
Question: | Will this product work to separate pvc fittings |
Answer: | Yes, any solvent based product will evaporate over any length of time. It does not have a rapid evaporation though. |
Question: | does this work well in a spray bottle or how is it applied? thanks |
Answer: | No. In my experience if you use a petroleum based solvent (Var-sol, kerosene, etc) with a pump designed for water based solvent the pump housing will distort rendering the pump useless. And create a fire hazard. The pumps for petroleum based solvents usually have "For use with Stoddard solvent or deodorized kerosene" in the description. Both still have a fairly strong smell, BTW. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this work for bonding paper to leather |
Answer: | Rubber Cement Thinner (heptane), is the "mildest" solvent. I have used it for 40 years as a degreaser and adhesive label remover. It will not dissove any solvent based paint (or even dry printer's ink). You can use it to remove sticky stuff from your car. There may be a slight dulling due to remaing residue: just rub it out with a soft cloth. |
Question: | Is best-test premium paper cement a type rubber cement, or is it something entirely different |
Answer: | It removes Glue from Hard Surfaces as I have used it, far as carpet .... it might break it up to remove with a lot of manual work, But I am not sure. Try email the Manufacture for further Info about your issue. |
Question: | I am looking for something that will hold cigar bands to canvass. Plan on hanging it as an art piece. Needs to not fade the bands and hold over time |
Answer: | No, after PVC has cured it is hardened and has melted the PVC together to make a sealed joint. |
Question: | Will this turn brown through the years? Will it damage paper |
Answer: | The bottle is 100% contolled by you whereas the spray gets all over the place. The spray is good for large pieces. |

Answer: | This product is not recommended for monitors. |
Question: | can this be used to get sticky label or price tag residue off of things like plastic containers to reuse |
Answer: | I never used this on book jackets - but I am pretty sure it will work. Make sure u have plenty of paper towels on hand to remove this extra oil. This is an oily product |
Question: | Will this remove graphite smudges from your watercolor paper |
Answer: | I tried to use it on my wooden door to remove water marks but didn't work ! however it removes oily spots from my wooden cabinets |
Question: | Will this work for rubber cement |
Answer: | if you have sticker residue on car painted area, it may affect the paint. I would test it on a painted area like inside the trunk on the lid or somewhere first. Somewhere hidden that if it affects the paint can be re-hidden and not seen. I doubt it would affect the paint, but better to check on a hidden area first than one out in the open. |
