Answer:	Yes, this lens is perfect for looking at flowers. I'm a botanist and came on Amazon to replace my B&L Hastings Triplet 10x with this lens that I've heard great things about.

Answer:	I use this loop for determining the grain size of rocks, some grains are smaller than 1mm and this loop allows me to see those fine grains with no problem. Based on this I would imagine that it would work great for seeing the small details in plants.

Answer:	This is a very nice quality unit. It's cheaper because maybe the materials are not the lightest in weight and also because of where it's made you pick up value in the currency translation if you are buying in US. Also, I would think for a loupe, 10X would be the maximum I would consider in the field for prospecting. I would even consider 7X for a loupe. If I was bringing sample home or to a lab I would use a stereo microscope with good lighting and a zoom from 10X to 35 or 40X.
