Whirlpool contracts these filter suppliers and most likely get a percentage of the sales. Same with the 50.00 water filter. Its not necessary in areas where you have good water quality anyway. I looked up my water company's water report to decide if I needed a filter. I really don't but found one for 15.00 so I did buy one this time.
