Answer:	The blue part on this filter helps to keep white part wet. If the filter dries up there will be no moisture coming out of humidifier. Once the filter stops maintaining its moisture you have to throw it away and replace it . I have other filters that are all white and they dry up faster than this one with the blue part around it.
Question:	These claim to fit the hcm-350 series, but the dimensions shown in photos are way different than the originals i have (about 8"x5"). what is real
Answer:	Don't recall if there was a difference in actual dimensions between the original white ones and these but these do fit mine. I only bought once or twice then moved on to third party options because these are horrible compared to the original design. You have to re-saturate them yourself at least twice a day as they don't wick well enough and dry out the top half very quickly.

Answer:	This is not a thinner filter. You just bought the wrong one. Vornado also sells one twice as thick as this one.

Answer:	I can attest to the fact that these wicks are not the of the same quality as formerly. I have used my Vornado 40 for many years, and the last 2 orders have proved disappointing. I changed a fairly new pair last night, and the new ones got the humidity up to only 35 per cent and had already begun turning brown. This is with reverse osmosis water and a bacteria control. Formerly the wicks would last several months.

Question:	why are the filters not working like they used to, replaceing every two weeks
Answer:	I am having the same problem. I’ve owned the Aircare 1201 for several years and it looks and works like new, but this winter season I’ve gone through several wicks. I use bacteriostat as always but with these wicks they will begin to smell sour after a couple weeks. I will soak them in water and white vinegar for 20 minutes, rinse well, and it helps for about a week and then the smell returns. The unit is perfectly clean and I clean and sanitize it per instructions, so something’s up with these filters. They must be manufactured from a difference source. This process is way too labor intensive and shouldn’t be necessary. Can’t handle the sour smell and thinking it may be worse than no humidifier. Would love a solution short of buying another unit that would use a different filter.

Answer:	Yes, I did and it works well. You may want to clean some of the yellowish build up, soaking the filter in a bucket with a mix of water and dish washer liquid for a few hours and then squeezing gently. Let it dry over a towel on a flat surface. I always keep a second filter just in case it gets damaged.

Answer:	This is not a filter so it will never be full of dirt. Best practice for this and all your home filter needs is to just change everything on your birthday. The manufacture recommends changing the cartridge (not a filter) when there is still about 1/3 of the polyphosate beads remaining.

Answer:	This filter is designed to remove calcium and mineral deposits that can solidify when water is quickly heated in a tankless hot water heater system. If you have hard water and you feel it would create a problem in a spa system, I don't see any reason you couldn't use this filter. However, it's main purpose is not sediment filtration.
Question:	what's the dimensions
Answer:	No. The filter only removes particulate matter. The material it contains is granular activated charcoal (GAC), the same substance that hospital ERs use to treat persons who have ingested poisonous material into their stomachs. The filter also removes chlorine, the substance that kills bacteria in water. If your water source is not treated with chlorine or similar anti-bacterial methods, you should not drink it. Think of chlorine as a protective wrapper. The filter removes the wrapper prior to drinking the water. If you buy a sandwich from a store, it comes in a protective wrapper. You don't eat the wrapper with the sandwich.
Question:	How often should these filters be replaced
Answer:	This depends entirely on your water quality. I don't every see anywhere close to 100,000 gallons on mine before I start to get reduced pressure. If I had a one story house I could probably get longer, but I have to replace this every 12 to 18 months.. and I use less than 40k gallons a year. That being said, I live in AZ and my water quality is horrible.. and this filter makes a HUGE difference.

Question:	How well does it manage humidity without a hygrometer or built in humistat? IE has anyone had over humidification issues
Answer:	No, never any over-humidification. On rainy days, mine never comes on. Depending on outside temps, my humidity levels are running between 38% and 44%.
Question:	Does this drop the room temperature a few degrees ? Does it make the room cooler
Answer:	Because it is an evaporative humidifier, the air from the top will be cooler than the room air by a degree or two. It should not affect the temperature of the room unless it is very small.
Question:	What humidity % is this able to get your house up to
Answer:	We live in Southwest Colorado. Our house in the winter is about 23% humidity. When we use our wood burning stove to heat it drops even lower. I have put two of these units in our space which is about 1,600 SF. With both of them on high, we can raise the humidity up to 30% when the wood burning stove is off. With it on, the high 20's. However and it's a big however, on high the noise is loud and you would not want to be in the space, so we only keep it on high if we are out of the house or overnight outside the bedroom. We have one upstairs in the loft and it's okay to keep on medium when you are downstairs. When I am in the same room as the unit, then I prefer low, which does not do very much, but it's better then nothing. Low is quit enough to use in a room you are sleeping in if it's not close and I am a very light sleeper. In our basement which stays more humid and where we use a gas stove only to heat, it is doable to bring up the humidity to 45% if run on high/medium when not in the space. TIP! When sleeping in the same room as the unit, noise occurs when the unit releases air and water "drubs, drubs", into the base (especially in the beginning when the the furniture, carpets, etc. are absorbing the moisture. It make take a bit of time for that to occur and then you may see a spike up, so give it a week to see what happens. Also if you have the windows open, which I suggest you do for air quality at least a couple of hours a day then that will alter humidity as well) . This sound kept me up all night as it happened every 20 minutes or so. The SOLUTION is to fill the base almost to the top, but not quite, so that it does not spill when replacing the tank and then empty the rest of the water out of the tanks and replace. Then put on low and you will get humidity all night without the bubbles sound! This was passed on to me by a friend and it really works. Great unit!

Answer:	I paid for it and I also have it's predecessor model which is pretty much unavailable now. The new model has a much quieter fan, so that's a potential plus, but for me the killer is that the new model (this one) empties its tank about 20x slower than the old one.
