In continuous mode it never stops, but in regular mode it cuts off for periods of time once the humidity level has been reduced to setting level then turns on again when humidity rises. I have it set in continuous mode in a house that was flooded along with several Ionic type filters, and an ozone generator to control the mold and smell until the cleanup crew can get to the work. | Answer: | I didn't see reviews regarding this problem nor whether to even look for such a question. I had temporarily bought a Hisense dehumidifier from Lowes until I received this Frigidaire unit. The Hisense had horrible reviews for the pump stopping working after not running long. Well, being today was the last day to submit the return for this Frigidaire item, my husband finally removed the drain plug from it. I hadn't been able to use it because I couldn't remove the plug for the drain, (while continuing to run the Hisense one in our garage the last month with a much easier attachable drain plug/hose) except for when I used the regular hose drain method and placing the regular hose into our dishwasher to drain since this Frigidaire item can only drain via gravity when the regular hose method is used. I used it for a few days in my new house's tile kitchen floor after running over the sink and to thereby remove excess moisture from the sink cabinet. The plug WOULD NOT push in at all. My husband had to use a pliers to get it out. I'm about to go put it in the garage now so I can return the Hisense one to Lowes, which ironically is still running 24/7 even though it's at the present 30% humidity...I needed one in the garage because once it got hot this summer, thereby running the AC and that condensation in crawl space causing a lot of standing water on the plastic (which he bought a crawl space dehumidifier), it was very humid and stinky in the garage. It took maybe 24 hours to bring the 62% humidity to 35%, it took about two weeks for the Hisense unit to get rid of the smell. The humidity in there had also caused molding on some various wood items that had been sitting in the garage. However, the Hisense unit produces a lot of heat output, thereby making the garage very hot vs cool. So we'll see if finally moving the Frigidaire unit to the garage does the same thing, a lot of heat output from the fan. Although, Frigidaire needs to rethink the design of their drain plug & hose. Don't understand why a hard plastic hose is used, let alone the crappy plug that took the use of a pliers to get it out. They need to look at how the Hisense drain plug & hose (rubber and much wider than the 1/4" plastic one). |

Unit starts off with both fan and compressor shut off. Basically silent 2. Unit turns on, can hear fan/compressor (they might not turn on at the same time? but essentially at the same time) 3. Frigidaire doesn't offer just the tub-to-pump hose for washer #FFTW1001PW_ , instead their plan is to only give you that hose included with the drain pump 5304492243 ($100-$119 depending where ya shop) . You can search at appliancepartspros.com or searspartsdirect.com by entering your model# and then just clicking on the diagrams (the 2nd one I believe; the 1st one is only a cover page) and going down the parts list (should be the part 12 or 13 on the diagram) for the pump. That being said, and being a technician for almost 15yrs, I know the hose is long enough. And it is a little smaller where it connects on one side and larger on the other. If yours is this way then it should work. I havent tried one yet, and havent gone out on your model yet. But I would definitely try it myself & will, instead of helping Frigidaire rip folks and sell them a pump just to get a new hose. Hope this helps ya. |

I'm not sure that this is used to make things warmer, it's used to trick the thermostat into running longer to get colder. |
